This is laughable. By their own admission, this "Surface" is nothing more than a concept. And a terribly implemented one at that. Cameras? Tagged objects? A frosted glass table with a projector under it? Come on people, this is a joke. As already pointed out Jeff Han has actually made multi-touch panel computing a reality, and after 6 years all MS has is a table with a projector under it? Bravo. You made the most expensive Lite_Brite in the world. I have no problem predicting that this is product is going to go nowhere.

This situation is all too common in almost all reports on spyware, botnets, spambots, trojans and viruses.

Primarily because the simple fact of the matter is that the only platform and software combination affected by all of the above is a Microsoft Windows PC running Internet Explorer and Outlook.

They better have damn well gotten rid of that idiotic \"I\'ve got four skin jobs walking the streets\" line from when Deckard meets Bryant in his office. The ONLY reason that line is in there (in the 1992 Director\'s Cut it is painfully obvious the line was hacked in) is to facilitate the voiceover, specifically Deckard equating Bryant\'s use of the term \"skinjobs\" as a racist term.

Please, tell me that line is gone. I would really waffle on buying this thing if they haven\'t fixed that glaring error.

You have a point, but I think the bigger point is this: for all the numbers Microsoft can claim for WinMo, absolutely no one cares. The only place those numbers matter is on internal memos just like the one El Jobso is talking about. They are preaching to the choir, while the tech world quietly does about it's business obsessing about every detail of the iPhone and not giving a tinkers cuss about WinMo.

Yeah, this is as idiotic as the lead article in the last Wired about the end of theory. Science is self correcting when properly practiced. Plagiarized or improperly conducted research will lead to improperly formed and incorrect conclusions. The internet is no worse for science than the calculator is bad for math.

Simply put? Wrong.

Apple doesn't sell sugared water. It has no real competition in the markets it has chosen to enter. And it has earned it's market share on merit as well as a user experience second to none and so tightly integrated as to be considered seamless. As another posted pointed out, if consistent high standards and seamless functionality are "cool" then it's time some other companies focused on being cool.

It's amusing and sad to see the comments about "hype" and "fashion" , as if solid engineeering and a second to none user experience was just a fad. The iPod has not cruched all competitiors because of fashion, or hype: it crushed the competition because it's the best of class media player, has a mature ecosystem supporting it, and Apple has made digital downloads into a viable business.

The Apple detractors will always have their whining, they've been whining for 25 years. But now that Apple is back on top, making products that everyone wants, the whining has turned from "don't buy Macs/Apple because nobody uses them" , to "don't buy Macs/Apple because everybody uses them".

When Microsoft asserted it monopoly and abused it to prevent competition, Apple supporters were some kind of freaks and cultists for not abandonding Apple and getting on board with Microsoft. And again, now that Apple is on top of their game, and making products that are the epitome of design and function in their market, we aren't supposed to buy Apple products because, why? Because they are everywhere, and the hapless competition is somehow the underdog?

Those people, quite frankly, are idiots. Apple can generate more press than most companies by not doing *anything*, never mind by issuing postcards at anytime of the year announcing a "Special Event". And as may pundits have already pointed out, the timing of MacWorld was horrific for a companies whose products see huge sales increases in the Holidays. Macworld may need Apple, but Apple does not need Macworld.
