If he’s on a Marine aircraft (like the helicopters he uses) then it’s Marine One.

Re: YouTube TV Down? According to the sample chart, the deal is available when booking the “Roomette” product on a “Superliner” route (like CHicago to Denver) AND/OR a “Viewliner” route (like DC to Savannah). I just wanted to make sure that the product itself was separate from the name of the car/coach used on a particular route.

An example from the airline world would be BAs “Club World” product. It’s offered on a range of planes including their 747 and 777, but you wouldn’t call it the “777 Club World” because it’s not exclusive to the plane type. I hope that helps clarify my original point.

I do thank you for being attentive to the comment section 😊

Re: Amtrak Offering Exclusive Two-For-One Sale

As a train fan that frequents this site I’m happy to see you all shared this deal...but the room itself is called a “Roomette” and the name of the sleeper car they are in is either a “Superliner” (which are on routes west of Chicago) or a “Viewliner” (which are on routes east of Chicago, with three exceptions). Calling the room a “Viewliner Roomette” is not accurate and I wouldn’t want folks trying to book a room on a train west of a Chicago looking for that name.

Re: 5 Reasons I Really Enjoyed My Flight on Norwegian Air

Why not? While I can understand how these efforts can be seen as socialistic in nature, I can not subscribe to that interpretation of them due to the negative connotation it bears. I don't believe insuring all Americans is a negative thing, in fact it could be a positive thing because instead of everyday taxpayers having to foot extraneous emergency room bills for the millions of people who use that as their primary care solution, everyone chips in upfront to add another option to the table...at least that is my understanding of the public option...if that is wrong please correct me.

I understand the fears of those who believe a public option would hurt the insurance companies...but the insurance companies claim they offer their services at competitive rates. If they can not compete with an option that just happens to have the backing of the federal government...then really, whose fault would that be. I think its a far fetched notion to say that the government would undercut insurance companies by significant margins...in fact I almost welcome that because those companies have become too powerful and expensive for the everyday American to afford...hence the high numbers of uninsured in this country.

That being said, when the arguments become nothing more than name calling, then no progress is made on either side. Debate is supposed to be carried out in a respectful and civilized manner...on that point we agree.

Re: Health Care Town Halls: Ground Zero of Hijacked Democracy

Point taken...and I wouldn't ask you or anyone to change their opinion...everyone is entitled to think as they please...within legal confines of course.

Re: Health Care Town Halls: Ground Zero of Hijacked Democracy

Although I agree with overarching premise of RL's article, I must say that reverting to name calling does no one any good. If this conflict were completely one sided I could begin to understand the parallel, but I seriously doubt that. Innocent Israelis have suffered just as much as innocent Palestinians, in my mind. While I would agree that the founding Israelis are at fault for this conflict for plunking themselves down in 1948 (officially, of course there were the small highly armed factions that bullied their way in as early as the 1870's if memory serves) but I do not think we can blame their descendants just because they happen to be born there. Should they try and come to some amiable compromise, yes we all could try and do that, but that probably won't happen.

But that's exactly why at the end of the day I urge respectful dialogue because while you may believe strongly in your view, there is someone else who believes strongly in the opposite.

Re: Are You There Obama? I didn't say you must respect Israel. I said you should criticize in a respectful manner. Maybe I should go further and say, in a public forum like this you should use some manner of respect and decorum.

Don't think for a second that I disagree with you, I agree with your points, but I can't let you call them Nazis...that's really the only point that bugged me. No one in this day and age should be compared to Nazis unless they commit heinous atrocities like in the Sudan, in Kosovo and Rwanda.

I respect that Israel has not earned your respect, they don't have mine either...but that doesn't give you or anyone license, especially not in a public space like this, to slander them in such a fashion. As a writer for this publication I will not stand for that.

Re: Are You There Obama? We can not be the reassuring shoulder for Israel for it's entire existence. We should not have blindly supported every action they undertook without seriously evaluating them...and that should go for any country with which we have friendly relations.

I agree that maybe it is time Obama starts listening to the Israeli side of the issue, but the Israelis should understand that they will no longer be getting the rubber stamp of approval from this White House. As long as they understand that, then the process of listening can begin. If Netanyahu and Lieberman are not willing to accept that, then the listening will not work. This must be a two way street.

Re: The Final Word On Gates Case?

Yes you're right Sam, even though I believe he shouldn't have be arrested in the first place, it indeed was not a literal false arrest...that involves paperwork and an official apology from the arresting department saying they falsely arrested an individual. If the officer has cause for an arrest, and it is approved by his/her sergeant, then it is NOT a false arrest. Since Sgt. Crowley was his own sergeant, I assume the next in line is his Lieutenant, but traditionally the Sergeant is the first line of vetting in an arrest situation.

Re: Blacklisted: Glenn Beck

I strongly believe that the media should NOT be biased...or that at least the overarching outlet should not have a definitive position. I wrote a piece about that asking 'why should I have to change the channel to get the other opinion?' Of course news media can have their Glenn Becks, their Keith Olbermanns, their O'Reilly's, but those pundits should be followed with someone on the other side, the supposedly "journalistic" broadcasts they have should be strictly journalistic and not biased. But well...I guess that's just not possible anymore.

That being said, Glenn Beck used to have my respect for standing up for what he believed in. Now, the crying and lying version has obliterated that respect. He can have a point, but no need to jump off the deep end as much as he has.

Re: Unpopular Pelosi

As a left leaning moderate, I say moderate because I do have a few conservative opinions, the Speaker just annoys me. I can't watch her press conferences, I can't listen to her sound bites...she is just flat out irritating. I can not believe that she has much support behind her anymore...but this would be a horrible time for those cracks to surface. She may have just had one of the most productive legislative terms for a Speaker in a while, but that does no one any good if no one wants to listen to you.
Basically the honeymoon of her being the first female Speaker has loooong since been over...maybe it's time for another change in Washington.

Re: Should a President Ever Call Something “Stupid?”

Race aside, if you are confronted in your own home on suspicion of breaking into it, anyone would be a little upset. Now since we have two different sides of the story, no one really knows what the facts are.
I believe in respecting police but police also need to learn to respect those they serve. If it is true that Professor Gates proved his residency at the address in question, the suspicious nature of the matter should have been dropped and the officer probably should have left.
On the other hand, if Prof. Gates was indeed belligerent, he was out of line, but I think anyone would agree that you would be upset if you were accused of breaking into your own home.
Furthermore, Prof. Gates is nearing his 60s and I believe needs a cane...if the officer saw those facts upon his arrival, wouldn't that call into question the whole premise of the man breaking into anything...just a thought.

Re: Watch News from the Middle East

Thank you! I think people forget that two of the main reasons for the first Iranian revolution had to do with us...first with the removal of Prime Minister Mossadegh (students of Farsi, forgive my spelling) in 1953 and second the support we gave the Shah before his deposition in 1979. The President said it well today, while Senators and Congressmen and pundits can spout all they want, he is the President of the United States, and in effect, the only voice that matters. For any change to happen in Iran his tone should be firm but anti-inflammatory, because as soon as we are portrayed as agitators, the Regime will crackdown harder than they have already.

Re: Why Must I Change the Channel?

I think you misunderstood my point.
