Great review of two great sites.

I was impressed with TechCentral, and now I'm completely blown away by The Daily Maverick. I've been reading (and actually finishing) almost everything they publish.

I'd like to know what sort of after sales support I can expect, with what sort of turn-around times, if I break my Kindle. (or, more likely, if it breaks itself)

I'm also interested in knowing if Amazon plans on selling books by South African authors and if they do if any of the content will be non-English. (Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, etc.)

A traceroute shows the last 3 hops (from Neotel) to be jinx.net.za, then isnet.net and finally deploy.akamaitechnologies.com, so Colin is spot on and the data is coming via Akamai.

I'm glad my suggestion of trying out FreeNAS worked for you. :) I have found it incredibly useful, especially the iTunes/DAAP service as this allows all the computers in the house to share a single iTunes library. We also have Windows, OS X and Ubuntu machines and each of them connects without any problems.

What excites me is how easy it is to expand the system or set up RAID for all my really important data.

All this for the cost of an old PC that was probably lying around the house already and 30 minutes of my time. Not bad.
