The letters to the editor are part of the subscription digital edition, but we do not run letters every day. Letters are always run on the editorial page and are published as space allows and based on the number of letters we have received.

The reporters do not write the headlines, that is done by editors. In this case, the term puppy was used because the common term for unscrupulous breeding operations, as is the allegation in this case, is "puppy mill." Also, as far as the information we have received, a large portion of the dogs confiscated were puppies, so the headline is technically accurate.

The paper is not taking sides in this issue and remains objective in its reporting. Ultimately, the guilt or innocence of the dogs' owner will be determined in the court.

Thanks for the heads up about the photos. They look fuzzy now because we are porting them from the old site and there is enough difference in size to cause some rasterization on the new site. That will clear up when we are only formatting images for the new site.

Our digital edition does support RSS. We are working on the RSS feed for the new site as well.

Thanks for the suggestion using .png. That format is also handy because it is one of the few Internet-friendly image formats that supports transparency.

We will have more content on the new site, but some of it is premium content and can be found in out digital edition.

It is free for print subscribers and does contain everything the paper does, including weddings and engagements. For people who want to subscribe to the digital edition -- which is not the same as the new Daily Home Web site -- it is less expensive that the print version.

Of course, we report all major crimes, in detail, in our print and online products. We have a section called "On the Record" in the paper where we list local police reports. Generally, we don't report people's names with misdemeanor crimes because we don't have the staff to follow all those cases so we would only be reporting that someone has been arrested, not if they are acquitted or convicted, which is not fair the suspects.

You will still get the news at the same time, usually when we sent the last of the pages to the pressroom for printing. That can be anywhere from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. the night before.

What's more, with new new site, we will be posting breaking news throughout the day as it happens, so you will actually get your news faster.

The Daily Home has three offices -- Talladega, Sylacauga and Pell City. We cover all of Talladega County and the parts of St. Clair County near Pell City and Riverside. So you will see news from across our coverage area in both our print and online products.

We do have an online subscription product, our digital edition, that is an online recreation of the print newspaper. But the new Web site will not require a subscription or cost anything. The same content that is free on this site will be free on the new one. In fact, there will actually be more free content on the new site.

We have printed her picture in the print edition most of the times we have run a story on her. Unfortunately, our old online system, the one you you are using now, does not support multiple photographs. This is something that will be featured in our new site.

Her name had not been released because there was a warrant out and she had not turned herself in yet. Generally speaking, we do not release such information if it could hamper a police investigation or if a suspect is not in custody yet, depending on the circumstances.

The suspect's name will be in the story in Friday's Daily Home.

We will still be using the same setup for the obituaries. But you should not be having any problems viewing obits from previous days. There is a calendar at the bottom of the page ... just click on the day you want to read the obituaries for and it will take you there.

Thanks for the feedback.

There seems to be some confusion about how the site works. The new site will have all the same free content the current site does. The Daily Home does not currently post all our newspaper stories online for free and never has. We post the front page, opinion, sports, obits, etc. for free now and that will continue on the new site.

We will also have free photos, videos, magazines and other multimedia offerings far beyond what our current Web site can offer. Readers will also be able to manage their own content and upload content to the site, including photos, videos and blogs.

We will also be posting links from the new site to our online digital edition, which contains the entire newspaper as it appears in print. That product is nearly identical with our print edition, with the exception of Parade Magazine and the Sunday Comics, and therefore does carry a subscription rate, just like the print edition does -- though it costs subscribers much less. For anyone already subscribing to the print edition of The Daily Home, the full digital edition is free. It has a number of services not offered in our print edition -- like audio readers for people with vision problems and the ability to share stories. It will even translate the paper into different languages.

So, for anyone who is used to getting The Daily Home online for free, that will continue, just with more content and better access.

The comment feedback section should not require any login -- we are still working out a few kinks on our end. That's why we roll out a beta site well before the official launch, to find any problems and to get input from our readers.

Just for the record, The Daily Home is locally owned and operated.

Also, we have done a number of stories about how local dealerships are being affected by changes in the auto industry and how the Big Three are doing business -- not all of our stories from the paid products, the digital edition or in print, appear in the free online site. However, dealerships are private businesses and, unlike government, are under no obligation to share their operating details with the media.

THANK YOU, Mary Jane and the Chamber of Commerce volunteers that have worked hard to obtain such a fine inspiration and motivational speaker. Talladega needs a good "draw" to our area. As I often read the comments section on stories and editorials, I notice the same name and notice the same "glass half empty" attitude. We have a city manager TRYING to do the right thing, a new chamber director doing a fantastic job and yet we still have negative attitudes towards our city. Talladega leaders need the community's support and backing. Continual negative thoughts and actions creates negative attitudes. We have had enough of this throughout the years and look how it has pulledTalladega. There are many leaders in this community, some of which have not been tapped. If you are a leader, lead in a positive direction and find out how you can help the community through the Chamber of Commerce or non-profit organization in town. You may find your "half empty glass" is actually "half full"! Thank you again Mary Jane for your leadership and vision to gain a notable name and bring out laying area citizens into OUR town to give OUR citizens the opportunity to show how great Talladega was/is/will continue to be.

We publish the next days paper the night before. Our internet software adds the next days date, since that is when most of readers get their news. It also corresponds to the dates on that day's paper.
