@debinbrooklyn Glad you feel the list is exhaustive. I hear and understand the concern in your question (and before I continue, we do have to acknowledge that there is a segment of women who are all about the money) and I think the main reason a man would pursue a woman without having a roof over his head comes back to lack of proper training. Google how to be a man and you'll find everything from: don't sleep with your best friends sister to sleep with as many people as you can. Pop culture trains our men that it's about the conquest, not about identifying and taking care of those you have been called to watch over. If you are focused on the hunt, you don't have to be worried about the grounds you bring you "catch" back to. If we want to change that, we have to break the prevailing thoughts around what it means to be a man.

@Joan Mitchell - ALL GREAT QUESTIONS. The stories that infiltrate our minds drive our actions so it is imperative that we ask ourselves what stories we are buying into so we can course correct, push harder, etc. I also cover this in a chapter in my book called (Reject Autopilot). Anyway, I am happy that you are asking the questions. Of course, I think checking in with God is a great place to start. I think you're pretty awesome so if you find you need to hear some great stories about yourself, reach out ;-)

@Chioke McRae Here are three ways to think about resolving the big machine taking up all of your time: (1) Free yourself from the expectation that you will work on your small machine daily. It's not your day job and frankly, daily work just may not be possible. Perhaps, instead you tackle it sessions. The small machine is how you spend your weekend. Or take a week off from work and grind on your small machine. (2) Put the big machine back in its place. Sometimes the big machine takes up more time than it needs to. Sometimes, it's our inability to stop checking email after 7p or on weekends that keeps us imprisoned Sometimes, it's our inability to wait to respond to the email until the morning that keeps us working long after the work day is done. Figure out what it really takes to keep the big machine going and don't put in any additional work from there. (3) Sometimes you have just have to be willing to hustle. Sometimes, the only time you'll have to give to the small machine is at 1a or 5a. Determine in your heart that the small machine matters enough that you will work on it when no one else is working.

@Amanda Michelle Jones of course I like the leaving option, but since you already have that one let's keep thinking.
Why are you being punished? Knowing the why will help generate better solutions. Is it the way you do it? It is it because your boss/organization does not want to hear new thinking coming from you? If it's the latter, for example, maybe you need to do the thinking and then let your boss pitch it and get the credit for the thinking. Perhaps there is a key influencer, outside of your boss, that can help sell your ideas in. That way, the organization still moves but you don't get punished. Whatever you do, just make sure you learn the lesson of this season so that the "teaching" can end. Maybe you're supposed to be learning about how you can lead from any position. Or about how poor leadership can stifle an organization so that when you run you're own you don't have treat people the same way. I guess I'm saying there may also need to be a shift in your perspective regarding what this season for you is really about.

Of course, there are other factors. Here's a quick list of a few other things to think about:
*** Right Knowledge/Skill Set: All new knowledge/skill sets are not created equal. Are you learning the RIGHT THINGS for the future career you want to be amazing in. One of the reasons I left J&J was because I was going to have to do a deep dive into learning the human body (as if I was a surgeon), this was not useful to me (fun maybe, but not useful) so I hit the eject button.*** Follow The Money: Not the money you are making, but the money the company is making. Is your company profitable? Are they growing or shrinking? Are their biggest accounts growing or shrinking? If they are not growing and/or their biggest accounts are not growing, it may be time to leave. *** Who Is Leading You?: A great leader can make a huge difference in the opportunities you touch, exposure you get, and growth that you receive ...are you being led by great leadership? I used to say I don't follow great companies, I follow great leaders. The right leader can make your career grow leaps & bounds; a bad leader can have the opposite effect.

*** Can You Thrive There?: It's not enough to be "doing a job," you need to be thriving (or at least, set up to thrive) in the job you are in. Are you doing things you are passionate about? Are you strengthening your strengths vs developing the weaknesses that will never help you be amazing http://detavio.com/2009/06/...
