I love this band, so much.
This whole thing made me tear up - this, him getting his hair cut and them playing saturday for the last time in a long time. Gaaah. I never thought I would be the kind of person who gets teary over a band taking a "break."

I love those boys. And Im glad that while they saved my life - they think we saved theirs.

One of the main factors for buying CDs at shows is because they are usually cheaper. A lot of bands, especially smaller ones will sell cds for five bucks flat, and thats an awesome deal. I also like to have the cd right there for the people in the band to sign - when someone signs a shirt, I really dont want to wear it again - but the CD booklet I can thumbtack on the wall.

I know at Fall Ball they are selling the new TAI EP with a t-shirt for fifteen dollars, and thats a good deal.

The post on LJ kind of made me feel like there are a group of people calling me less of a fan because Im not part of the messageboard. And that bums me out because i promise no one on the messageboard is trash talking the LJ communities.

Ive been a fan for long enough, not that I think it matters, but really - can't we be friends!?

Firstly, I didn't mean it as condescending - the internet has a way of twisting the tone of words, haha. I was just trying to use FOB as an example - if you want to be more on a lower level, The Academy Is..., All Time Low - both of those bands are fairly difficult to meet with the amount of fans that wait outside for them. Both of them have fanclubs, and I do believe there are LJ communities geared toward both as well.

I didn't shell out any cash, assuming that you're a fan of the band - you bought the CD and the membership came free with that. The main problem I have with the LJ post is this: "you’ve got way more 12 year olds wearing cobra merch screaming about how much they want gabe saporta to marry them. if you did that shit on lj you would get your ass mocked till you left the fucking site. but on the cobra boards, that sort of behavior is tolerated and even encouraged."

Im not twelve years old, I don't own one piece of cobra merch but I still consider myself a fan.

I guess it's just laughable that the LJ comms are so threatened by a message board full of so called "screaming 12 year olds." I dont understand what the big deal is. Your LJ will be fine. Everyone knows you were around long before a fan club was - but I dont think that makes you any better than anyone else.

Here's the deal - Im an old fan, and yeah - Im part of the CC because it was FREE and because I want presale and early entry tickets.
We're not over here saying "DELETE THE LIVE JOURNAL."

The whole message board isn't "noobs" but LJ (which I have never even read) is sounding like a bunch of elitist bitches.

THERE CAN BE A LIVE JOURNAL AND A FANCLUB.

The message board isn't that bad.
It's bad, but not that bad.
There are some worthwhile opinions, and there is support. I feel like you just categorized every person into some screaming fangirl and that's not how it is. Im sorry the topics aren't what you consider to be worth while, but just because the LJ kids don't like it doesn't mean it needs to be trashed. Most of the people on the CC message board have been fans for a long time, and even the one or two annoying "new fans" on there are chill.

I never got into live journal - so I can't really say what that's about, but why can't there be both? Why are we having to pull the plug on one so the other can be around?

Basically, a fan club is an eventual part of every band.
It's the best attempt they have and meeting a fair number of people who want to - not everyone can stand outside after a show for hours waiting to meet a band, and even then the band doesn't have endless time to meet everyone. The fanclub all ready did presale with ee/mg, and honestly - every band has it.

I dont join fanclubs - I used my free code thing for the CobraCrew. But I understand that the band is just trying to make fans happy.

As far as "it isn't impossible to meet your favorite bands and fanclubs aren't necessary," that's not true. Have you ever met FOB, recently, without a MG?

I apparently missed the memo about that criteria.

Especially with a band like Cobra Starship that is about fun, and music, nad just having a great time - I don't get why all this drama is suddenly exploding.

Fans are fans. As far as Im concerned, if every fan at the show is dancing and having a good time then we are on the same level.
