I studied marine biology for two years as part of one of my undergraduate degrees. We took a scuba diving trip as part of the coursework. When one of the girls in our class got stung, our teachers recommended that someone pee on the jellyfish sting. Then they used tweezers to get the stingers out. Let it air out to dry up the wound and bandage it. I’m not a medical doctor but ... you probably shouldn’t get medical advice from a history blog anyway.

Better option would be wear a full body wet suit. There are worse things in the water than jelly fish and in most cases you’re protected by a wet suit.

Good luck carrying around antidotal medicine for every kind of sting, bite, a coral reaction while swimming. Easier to just wear a wet suit (and gloves).

It's less about fun and playing a game and more about motivation theory to positively influence behaviors based on a set of criteria or goals.

I kinda hate "the react" way of styling. For a few reasons.. testing CSS for one. Components are meant to be reusable, which means they may also be on a page more than once (like a button). When you change one in line style good luck testing the rest within the browser.. you'd have to make app changes and check it. Not thrilled with that concept. It's also really messy to look at the end code. I'm still a React Noob so maybe my opinion will change when I get further into it, and I will end up digging into it since work is full speed ahead on this.

I wonder how much of the choices are based on availability, cultural influence or stigmas, male influences, and the effect of birth control on the body. Considering the negative connotations of discussing such a personal subject, it may be extremely hard to get accurate information or feedback from the women in this situation. The topic idea is interesting, I found this article by accident while searching for an unrelated article on cognitive psychology and HCI. Regardless, I hope to see similar studies that address external influences.

I really want to read this, but the typography is too close together. I tried adding additional line height and letter-spacing on my local css, but I think you just need a new font. This looks like a lot of great information, but its too hard to read.

I just read in the encyclopedia that uncooked bayberry leaves are poisonous and a tea version used to be used to induce abortion. Stumbled on your page while looking at how to make bayberry candles, happy foraging.

I disagree. 100%. I have a lot of solar and battery operated "things" so this battery backup is essential. Plus what if its just a breaker tripped? The OFFLINE functionality is really key here, since it will save me from having to run around manually shutting off a lot of automated "things" so - to each there own. The more backups the better. Plus it will also continue tracking security offline, which frankly has to have a back up or two of its own, but it's a step forward.

So? Lots of other companies are integrating Apple's HomeKit. I'm sure Simon was aware who makes HomeKIt and that they are a key competitor of Samsung. The more integration the company has, the more competitive, frankly there is no reason to give people a reason to have to buy a second hub or leave for something that integrates everything.

Maybe the airline would have less issues if the dog potty area wasn't OUTSIDE of security checkpoints. Making it impossible to take a dog to potty.

Since when do big dogs get to ride? Thought little ones had to be stowed under your seat? Must be a service animal?
