Seriously, Facebook? The marketing people - who are the ones running Facebook pages - are NOT the legal/leader people who have the official documents. Not even Google Places is this difficult (and let me tell you, Google Places is a b**ch to claim locations on).

Re: How To Comment Without Selling

I think the example given is a little simplistic. If the topic is about Verizon phones, and you're representing Verizon, then it's obvious that you have a good reason to be commenting on that blog in order to provide information about the product.

But what if the blog post/message board topic isn't about your specific product, but about the larger product category.

For example, I represent a school district and my goal is to enroll kids in our schools. I have an account on a popular discussion website for moms. My question is: unless someone brings up one of our schools into the discussion, how am I supposed to be 'engaging' with them on this site? I am neither a mom nor a teacher, so my only relevant knowledge is with my specific schools - my 'products.'

Just throwing it out there for discussion.

Re: Steve Jobs: Wi-Fi iPhone Syncing Coming “Someday”

Yeah but if it's syncing while my iPod touch is sitting in my purse and I'm doing other stuff, what do I care how long it takes? When I go back to my purse and take it out and hook it up to my car for the ride in to work or home every day, all the latest episodes of my podcasts have downloaded without me having to even think about it. Just like iTunes does on my laptop.

Re: iOS 4: The Complete Walkthrough and Guide [VIDEO]

Yes, but it won't check periodically for new episodes and download them automatically, like iTunes on a computer will do. It's such a pain in the behind to plug in my ipod every night, make sure it syncs in the morning, press the eject button, then plug it back in when I get to work...

It has its own wifi connection - why can't it manage podcast subscriptions on its own? Seriously.

Re: iOS 4: The Complete Walkthrough and Guide [VIDEO]

I wish it could download new podcast episodes over wifi instead of having to connect it to my laptop to get new episodes. So maybe it's best for personal brands, not business or organizations on Facebook.

Re: Why Much of Your Favorite TV Content Still Isn’t Online

"On Fox’s website, the majority of online viewing happens within a week after a current show airs."

Huh? The current episode of House isn't even posted on Fox's website until 8 days after it airs on TV. So I have no idea how there's any online viewing happening within a week if the episode isn't even available online until after one week. Makes no sense.

Re: My Social Media Secret Weapon

That's interesting, I've used Tumblr for years for my personal micro-blog, but haven't considered it for 'business' use. Hootsuite, Posterous, and Ping.fm are the sites I've used/tried for posting in multiple places... Right now I mostly use Hootsuite to manage twitter (because of the link tracking and ability to schedule tweets).

We're also testing with one of our schools the ability to simply e-mail the video file of their daily morning announcements to Posterous, which in turn automatically posts it on the school's Facebook wall.

Most of the time, though, when it comes to Facebook I post directly to the Facebook wall instead of using a 3rd party service.

Re: Facebook’s Advanced Search 2.0 – How To Add To Your Profile

It was working early Tuesday morning.
