What useful information Carla.Houston needs our donations and help. What a long road ahead for so many of it's citizens. Every day I see photos of the flooding and I'm in total disbelief. It's like it's a bad movie. I'm grateful that you and your family did not suffer water damage to your homes. My friends seemed to come out on the better end of the aftermath. As far as those criticizing about evacuating Houston pre-Harvey. I suspect those are people that have never lived in Houston. Take care!

I am relieved you mentioned, staying true to what you love. I've not had an all white kitchen for years and our SD house I feel calls for it. There were two designers who commented this week as to being 'over' the white kitchen. I panicked which was ridiculous of me. It's all about that experience factor that I'm missing. I spent the earlier part of the day researching cement tile for my range backsplash. I think Graham just saw dollar signs swirling around his head. Your kitchen is going to be fabulous Carla and I know I'll be highly envious!!

I suspect the homeowners look 15 years younger just walking around in their new hip home. The dining room is now a breath of fresh air. Their existing chairs took a whole new lease on life. Can't say enough positives Carla!

I had to a few double and triple takes to make sure it was the same home. Truly amazing what a few well made changes make. The new cabinets about the old existing kitchen cabinets is brilliant!

Carla the home doesn't even look like the same place. What a fabulous transformation and I'm truly impressed. From the lighting, the sink, to the travertine..wow! Then there is that staircase!!! Your clients must be over-the-moon. Great photography by Tori too. : )

Such a gorgeous home inside & out and fascinating to read more about it's history. I remember as a kid having my hair permed in the basement when the 'then' owner had a beauty salon downstairs. Those were the days perms with done with the curlers on cord hanging from a big metal stand that plugged into the wall (or so, as is the memory of a young child!). Thank you for the great post!

Hi Gina,

What wonderful photos and it sounded like the perfect day. I love Starbucks Gingerbread latte's too; it's a gentle nod that the holiday season has begun. How I wish we would be visiting London right now. My youngest has been going to school at the Univ. of the Arts & living not far London Bridge. She's got two weeks left and then after a stay here with us in Scotland is back home to finish school at Washington State Univ. There can't be a more magical place than London during the Christmas season. Enjoy each moment!

I hope that this is given full attention by the police and cooperation by our locals. Cycling here is getting becoming a blood sport and cyclists don't get the respect they deserve on the road. OK some break the rules, but some ride as they should. It gets cars off the crowded streets and parking open for those that drive their cars; plus it makes for healthier people. That is unless they get beat up by animals posing as humans.

I do remember the wooden rocking horse by the window and kids riding it down that slope between the mens and women's dept.'s. My mother worked for Harmon's but not until the store moved to 2nd. She worked there until the store closed. She loved working for Harold and Jim and were happy times.
