Most articles have been very one sided and biased in support of the hotel. Residents' issues have NOT been given fair consideration throughout this process. It has been on the fast track and was being pushed through, obviously without following proper procedures.

Re: Board approves Flagler Avenue hotel concept

I would love to know what "private property" is going to be purchased for parking. I am afraid folks are going to regret putting this three-story hotel on this small site. The traffic is already a nightmare, not to mention parking. I don't think businesses will receive the benefits they desire from this project. Unfortunately, you can't "unbuild" the hotel if it is a mistake.

Re: Flagler Avenue hotel proposal moves ahead

I do not think most residents/business owners are opposed to a hotel in NSB nor or they opposed to an "economic stimulus package" for the merchants. The question is: is there a site more suitable than Flagler Avenue for a three-story, 117 room hotel? A site which would benefit more than just Flagler Avenue businesses? A site whose development does not depend on taking away property which currently is a park and parking area for Flagler Avenue? Will this "new" hotel have a negative affect on the smaller hotels/motels within walking distance of the beach? Was there a hotel on Flagler Avenue when these merchants chose to open businesses there? Is the CRAs only consideration for properties the economic use? Why then was the Florida Avenue property purchased for "future parking" use? We can't make any more greenspace, trees or natural drainfields. Why do we want to rid our town of those the city/CRA already own and can hold onto?
