I have a file that is formatted with prettier and committed in the repo.
After editing the file with vim and making some formatting craziness.
I use git to commit the file
pre-commit uses prettifier to format the file removing the craziness
the file is committed with proper formatting
if I do a git show, it will show that a commit was made without any changes to the file.

doesn't the worker need to be a separate script so that it can be run in a different process?

Thanks for the article.

I can work with files easily on docker-for-mac but not with docker-machine hosts. I was hoping your blog post would fix that.

I was able to use your idea to have the container run with my UID but the mounted volume is owned by root so I cannot see the files in it or write a file to it.

FYI
Docker version 1.12.3, build 6b644ec
and docker-machine-driver-xhyve

I created a 1GB-container and synced from computer1 to computer2. Then I added a folder to the container using computer2, I was happy to see that it synced with the Copy service very quickly, but then I became sad when I saw it was copying the whole 1GB from Copy service back to computer1.

I had to switch to relative links to make it work without a http server. I'm using the Chrome Version 29.0.1547.65

I think what Perl needs to be more successful in companies is leaders. The Perl community has many talented people and some lead the way by blogging and other by writing cool Perl code. But what I don't see is an organized effort. We need generals to lead the team to victory!

You should append your wish list to the article:

You want...
1) less common server aix, vms, etc
2) a central svn or git server -- why?
3) official legal wording that the CPAN module authors could put on their modules
4) All Perl projects to be run in an open, transparent and meritocratic manner
5) A perl org to hire a full-time marketing professional to advance Perl and our projects

for the most part I agree that your wish list has merit.
