I have not gone as far as you. I went from following about 2k to about 600 and now I am back up to about 700ish. Sounds high compared to yours, but so much better than it was before.

And evernote is great with virtual assistants because you can share notebooks and to-do/task items all in one neat location and easy to find for both parties!

You didnt answer the question ;) J/K. Great write-up. I am staying with Evernote. I am just to invested there and I know from experience that EN is always adding things and getting bettre and while Evernote did some great things that I really like, I still think for simple productive functionality Evernote is just hard to beat. Also with the Trunk things are going to keep improving. I can see someone doing some sort of springpad like design to lay over EN and put it in the trunk at some point.

I am with you on Evernote. I use it for everything now from my transaction management to my daily to-do to taking notes and using the voice recorder. Will work to replace many of the other apps you mentioned above. Great post! Thanks for sharing

Love Evernote. I think maybe 1 in 20 use it for the full potential it could be used for. There is not a more powerful app out there.

Evernote is by far my favorite app. I use it for everything now from recording meetings, to my to-do list to my weekly reviews of productivity.

Very good drew, very good. This and your 30 day plan is probably the best how to advice for re bloggers I have read. Here is a story that will help emphasize the time. In Sept of 2009 I stared video blogging about "short sales" wanting to build a short sale business. In May of 2010 I got my first call/email from someone who wanted to do a short sale, yes 8 months later. Since then, over the last 15 months we have had about 45 short sale listings of which 100% came from video blogging or referrals. And guess what, those referrals are almost exclusively people who we helped to short sale who had found our videos. I think 40 of the 45 came directly from the video blogging we did. So if you looked at our results after 6 months they were not impressive. Imagine if I had stopped then. Luckily I had built political blogs in the past and I knew things take time to take off so I stayed with it.

Drew, I have not read the other comments so someone may have already taken this stance. You know I respect you greatly, and I get where you are coming from here as far as best use of time, but as an active agent I want to tell you a little about my business, why I think + is such a great tool for agents and take a different approach to social media as an agent.

First I just looked at some numbers. I have 6 clients (past and present) that I follow on Twitter, of which two I interact with on a regular basis. Sure some people may have a lot more, but I have over 100 different clients in the last 3 years, and that is all that I really see on Twitter. Facebook I have 38 clients (past and present) that I have in a list and on Google Plus I have 8 past/current clients in my clients circle. So already + is a better place than Twitter to keep in touch with clients. Lets face it, most of our clients are not on Twitter and even fewer are actually active.

Now the part I really want to take exception to is the part of you should be using social media as a tool to keep in touch with your clients. Yes I agree with that, but I think social media is a lot more to agents. As an agent I like to think I am on the cutting edge of everything going on in our industry. How am I doing that, by reading A LOT, following blogs, following discussions on Plus and Twitter and staying engaged. This is as important as staying in touch with clients because you want to be able to always know what the heck you are talking about when you talk to your clients.

In that I think + is a much better tool than Twitter, and twitter is a much better tool than facebook. Facebook is still the best tool for talking to clients, but as far as staying involved in news and trends to me it lacks behind Twitter which lacks behind +.

Plus is the best tool yet for learning and engaging. Plus is a way, the best way, I have seen where I can see a discussion on MARS or Short Sales or FHA loan limits or anything else and have a discussion with other agents. You can have a much better discussion on + with more detail than you can twitter and I think it is "more acceptable" to have the discussion on + than it is a Facebook wall.

What I would love to see is the rechat discussion one night being held on + instead of twitter. I think there would be some issues, but I would love to see how the discussion played out. I think you can have a much more thorough and well thought out conversation here than twitter because of the obvious character limit issues.

So while I agree what you are saying about its time is not really here as far as with our clients, I do think it already is a better place to be able to learn and interact with the re.net crew than twitter because you can have a much better in depth conversation about the current issues of real estate and our constant education is as important as keeping in touch with clients.

Yea it is annoying... We become app users and become like second class citizens to Google. We get everything after gmail accounts. It gets old. They say it will be in the next few months, but they said that about buzz too and apps still does not have buzz (not that it is a loss)
