To support local, non-commercial creativity. Those 12 magazines are probably shaped by the companies purchasing advertising space. Printing is expensive. I don't mind paying a little extra to help independent publications.

Hey, I just saw this. I do believe that "the come up" is not something that prominant in Irish culture, though I should say, that was just one of a handful of reasons I mentioned, and probably not the most important.

Thanks B. My advice would be to take a clutch of publications, learn them inside out and start pitching ideas you feel would be a good fit. If they reject your first idea, keep on trying, and hopefully eventually someone will bite. haha! I missed those posts. But you know, I could tell you where you've gone wrong with those searches.... I will retract "one of the best out there" though because I forgot that it won't let you seatch by writers, which is annoying.

Nah man, your crazy! You type in the artist and there pops up all their album reviews, lovingly assembled, complete with covers... Oh, and if your not arsed doing that, just type "pitchfork *album title* into google and it's right there, search result #1. The webdesigners probably can't take credit for that though. Probably.

half this guys posts are dedicated to taking shots at pitchfork!! im so sick whingy lads like this scrutinizing every word just to find something to complain about. I suppose his audience must be people who don't like pitchfork either, but if that's the case they really should just read something they do like, rather than gettin so worked up!

I once worked on a magazine called "WOW" which stood for Woman Out Working..i didnt dig the title tho, thought it was silly tho. I think we've reached a point where a woman with a job is rightly not seen as anything to shout about! I didnt object tho, for fear of being beaten by the woman in the office who might of taken offense!
