Life presents us with opportunity to do interesting things that we don't often recognize as such. Having the awareness to recognize these times and the courage to pursue them is what can create great stories.

Re: Vary your blog posts with these three styles

Hey Mike,

Love the idea of a pillar post. I have two of those ideas now, one I am about to start working on. But I never thought of them this way. One I started a few years ago (and never finished) is the source of my first eBook, which is about 60% written.

I posted an article today that includes a couple of tools I use to keep up with my posting schedule.

http://davidchristian.co/20...

Re: 5 Reasons Why You Should Keep a Journal

I started (again) on Jan 1. Mine has yet to become more than a log of what I did that day. Mostly by the time I get to it, I'm tired and ready to go to bed, not write for another hour.

Re: Why I bought a Chromebook instead of an iPad

Bought my mother-in-law one for Christmas. We were going to get her an iPad so she can surf the web while watching TV. But all she mostly needed was to surf the internet and do email. The Chromebook as $199. She also has an iPhone so that is what she uses for all the apps, no need to have it on an iPad too.

Re: Taking Breaks at Work: Do Less To Do More

I have, but I've never implemented it. I'm not good with set time blocks. I tend to work on something until I think to take a break, usually about once per hour. My regular duties at work usually only take 15 minutes or less for each task. So there are plenty of opportunities to take a break. Sometimes I will work 6 hours straight without getting up from my desk because I am on a roll. I wouldn't want a timer interrupting that flow.

Re: Apple Attacks the Laptop With Another New iPad

That's a great point. I use my laptop for photo editing and most of my writing because my keyboard is bigger than my wireless keyboard for my iPad. But I don't travel with the laptop. Just the iPad and keyboard.

I would really like a mouse for the iPad. I think that would encourage me to use it more. I get annoyed having to reach up and touch the screen because I typically set the iPad further than arm's reach on my desk.

Re: Why Do I Need Byword When I Already Have Evernote?

Interesting. I think I may be more inclined to use it once I switch to a Mac. then I could use it on my desktop as well. I have been reading about how it handle Markdown. I am mostly unfmiliar with that. I plan to check into it to see how that would benefit me. Perhaps then I will see more use for Byword.

I wish there was a way to preview it for a day or two so I could at least see how it works and what it looks like. I keep reference materials in Evernote for my writing, and I like being able to switch over to those notes when i am writing. This doesn't seem possible in Byword.

Re: Apple Attacks the Laptop With Another New iPad

I wrote a spreadsheet in my statistics class in grad school for real estate agents. You could enter the zip code, sq footage, number of rooms, bathrooms, garages, etc, and it would tell you the value of the house.

My wife and I have Realtor.com and Trulia apps on our phones. Since we are in the market for a new house (this summer) we like to look whats for sales when we find an area we like. I know we have received digital documents from our realtor to sign. There has to be something like that available. But it would be great just to have when driving through an area to see what is for sale and get details on the house.

Re: 5 Reasons to Carry a Pocket Notebook

Actually, I have been using the Large plain one but its made by Picadilly. Instead of $18 mine cost $6. And they are the same thing. However, this past Friday I received a package in the mail. Knowing my notebook was also out o space, my wife ordered me the Evernote Smartbook from, Moleskine. It's also the large one. But since it needs ink spots for reference points, this one is a grid pattern.

Re: Apple Attacks the Laptop With Another New iPad

What kind of port do you need? My dad taught me that growing up. I also learned that it usually takes less time to do it right the first time, then have to redo it later.

The same thing applies here. You are building a brand. Not fixing typos (ESPECIALLY when you know they exist) demonstrates that you are lazy. I'm not going to trust you if I believe that. I call it the "clean bathroom theory". I don't care how clean the place looks where I'm eating, if the bathroom is dirty, I assume the whole place is nasty.

Re: My Take on the iPad Mini After 7 Weeks

I use the iPad 2 and love it.
