All these streams of conversations intersecting at one point. The only problem with FF though is that the comments don't get distributed. Sure, back to Twitter, but what about back to your blog, or your Flickr photostream?

I realize that the point here is about the changing nature of blogging and what will happen, I just think bloggers are going to continue to adopt and adapt to these newer forms of social media until something sticks -- and they'll continue to do both and continue to find ways to reach various reading publics.

Ahhh, and just as I write this, I take it back. I see you've managed to bring in pieces of FF here. I stand corrected on one point, but I'm still sticking to my guns on others.

Re: Video: Google Pop/Politics Panel w/ Me, Winstead, Obama Girl Guy, etc.

Good stuff baratunde -- congrats!!

Re: QOTD: Usher Says...

@Camille & @LaLaFuFu, I just got a copy of that issue today so maybe I can look into it a little more. It looks like an inline reply directly to my comment. Seems he/she has a problem with my calling FriendFeed FF, and it appears he also believes I have no command of the English language. In that case, looks like I better hunt for a new career as I've been a writer and journalist for over 15 years. Though I know that doesn't really mean anything.

Anyway, I thought this was an extremely thoughtful post. It gave me lots to think about.

Re: Utterz: Twitter Meets Seesmic

This is big news. I hadn't found Utterz especially useful. You sort of have to have a big ego to think that people want to hear your audio blog posts, because they're not quite podcasts. People use Pownce, Jaiku, Plaxo Pulse, and other services similar. They set it up and then walk away. I call it parking and creating lifestreams, as you've already stated. And as others have pointed out, there is definitely an issue with porting the activity that happens back into other services. Sure, there are now ways to have comments from blog posts pulled back in with plugins like on Wordpress, but other advances haven't happened yet.

The thing that makes Twitter work for everyone, whether we're fed up with the way it doesn't always work or not, is that conversation is simple. Especially back-and-forth conversation. Not to say it isn't simple on FriendFeed, if you're using FriendFeed solely, I just think that most people have not trained themselves to use FriendFeed as their main communications tool yet. I set up two things recently to do that. I've added tabs to FriendFeed so that it's my start page and I've also started using feedalizr, which lets me use a few of my other services directly. See my blog post on this for more info.

Friendfeed is still too early adopter, IMHO, to get everyone there really interacting.

Re: Sing Along / 7 Songs Meme

you know what's interesting trent, right after i wrote this, i thought of you and corey, and del. and i was like damn. i really meant to get all new voices in here, not the old ones even. good to know you're still around though checking in.

Re: Afro-Punk thread: Black Female Antagonists in Cinema

Daniela - Interesting topic here the black female antagonist in cinema. In fact, in continuing a tradition of bringing a "Blogging While Black Panel," to SXSWi, this past year, I introduced, "Where Are the Black Tech Bloggers?" there (podcast here: http://www.lynnedjohnson.co... that Feldman attended. He attended because he thought the entire panel was set up as a reaction to him, when in fact it was just another take on "Blogging While Black," with an added mention of this particular video. Overall, his position there was pretty much the same that it had been on Valleywag previously (http://valleywag.com/tech/l..., in which he harped on the fact that he was an artist doing comedy. He also used his social media power to label the panel a hate fest, but I believe the podcast proves otherwise.

What's interesting here though, is that now this issue is outside the confines of the tech community and fully thrust into the mainstream, even with various groups protesting Verizon's distribution of his content (http://thedailyvoice.com/vo.... And as @bukolae already mentions, the content has reportedly been pulled and the deal is over.

While Feldman even expressed to me that he meant no malice toward any ethnic group per se, and created this video in the name of art, just as he has his puppets -- because Google is forever, the creation of this one video may forever haunt him. Even if, as he has professed, this video is not the sole representation of his work. To a large number of people who have no other connection with his work but this video -- it is.

On another note, he has received so much more press from this now, and I'm sure overall interest, that even though Cnet or Verizon may have canceled distribution deals with him, it doesn't mean that some other company won't cut him a check.

So there are some serious questions that arise:

1. Already raised by Matthew Ingram's post about Freedom of Speech in the media (http://www.mathewingram.com...

2. And the other is about tolerance in the new age of media. On television, cable, radio, there are certain standards, all governed by the FCC. Does contest like this warrant a policing of the Web? And if so, doesn't it change the nature of things and the freedoms we come to expect as bloggers?

I'm just asking.

Re: The Repetition of The Blogosphere

Since I started blogging in 2001, I always find a way to take a little break now and then. It's the only way you can stay fresh and interesting. Take a break, go live in RL, and then come back like a baby with fresh views on everything -- even if there isn't anything new to talk about.

And Aaron makes a really important point -- at least for the reading part. You've got to find new outlets to inspire you. Just because everyone says we all should be reading person X or Y, doesn't mean we have to. And honestly, FriendFeed and Twitter isn't all there is to life. Granted, your specialty is social media -- so that's what you cover but social media is all around us, everywhere, not just in these places.

I think you'll be alright. Give yourself a break, you've been going at this like gangbusters for a while now. Even posed a question about it on Twitter a while back. It was what method of contact do you prefer -- email, text message, DM on twitter, or facebook message? I got a lot of people still using email, but for me, Twitter and Facebook just make more sense. Email is like a dreg, there's so much junk in there it's hard to find the jewels, unless you've set up a significant amount of filtering. The social networks enable you to deal with quick, on the go messages, People are less likely to send you a diatribe on Facebook and they definitely can't as a DM.

I found both of your reasons working in my life lately. I ignore email for days, but find using Twitter the best and easiest, and then Facebook is more like email, but not so much. If that makes sense.

Re: Tactical Transparency Giveaway

@Clyde Smit - I Got your address thanks. URL structure for one -- having cleaner, shorter, title-based URLs that also work good for SEO. Any SEO in particular would help as well. For instance, some of the titles look like their actually images and not in H1 or H2 tags.

Other key things if you just look at the source code could present real real challenges ahead.
