I just needed something like that for a script I wrote to upload pictures to picasa! Do you mind if I use your code in the project? (It's a stupid script and I would like to license it MIT).

Re: Pythonic Javascript, it's Python with braces! - gumuz.nl

Just wanted to point out, that there is also WebKit's JavaScriptCore and it's GNOME usage Seed. And there is also it's close brother Gjs which is being used by GNOMEto program GNOME 3.0 - gnome-shell. You can see here a few examples for Seed (didn't find anything as nice for Gjs) http://live.gnome.org/Seed and see that it has a pretty pythonic feel.

I do think that a (more-)Pythonic Javascript has some definite advantages over Python (and why I am happy that they chose javascript for gnome-shell). First, there have been quite a few improvements in Javascript VMs, including JIT support and quite a few other improvements. Second, Javascript supports jailing much better then Python will in the near future allowing you to have things like plugins easily. Third, Javascript is a more of a widely known language then Python (as popular as Python is...), meaning it is easier for laymen developers to join in/write plugins etc...
Heck if writing standalone JS programs will get any easier I might start using it myself instead of Python for some projects (and I am quite an avid Python fan).
