I wouldn't trust someone serving in the senate. I would get a hold of the actual bill and read it yourself. They are all in a battle against eachother- Democrat vs. Republican. They often let the actual issue slide.

Again, this could've happened anywhere, as I know from experience. You should've gone to the hospital. And Britian is not the only social healthcare system that we can go off of. Mistakes happen, however, in every system. And every doctor is different, no matter what health system is in place.

Maybe she should've complained to the guy who fitted it in the firstplace? And this happens in the U.S., also. My grandparents all have this problem.

To my knowledge, you don't send in claims to get paid very often with Medicaid. It picks up doctor, hospital, surgery, most medication bills, etc.

Living there, and having many friends living there, I have never heard this. It would not be going to far to say that this would be possible in any country, however, if you run into a doctor with bad ethics. And for the record, don't we cross the border to buy medicine in Canada?

I lived in Germany and while I was there I was pregnant with my first daughter. The health care system was very good. The care was of great quality, and I would rather have my children there than here. Our health care is good but it seems that Germany is passing us up in many ways. Using failing systems as examples (such as Canada or Britian) is not fair and is terribly misleading. Many countries such as Germany and Switzerland are successful examples of universal, free healthcare systems. So some people need to stop knocking everything down just because it's new and we're not used to it. Not everything socialist is bad. It is possible to take parts from another system and integrate them with our own governmental system. Social health care is a good thing when done right.
