Our problem is not lack of taxes, but lack of jobs.

Re: Crushed

Thumbs up on the new podcast format. Shorter, more frequent podcasts are great for commutes and folks with busy lives, as well as the blind and visually impaired who find it challenging to access online content. But other than Mohler's Briefing, it's hard to find concise, quality Christian podcasts that meet that mark. On a related note, it would be great see devotionals like Valley of Vision in a daily podcast format.

Re: Crushed

Love the new format.

Re: http://blog.twitterfeed.com/post/1347203304

Is it possible to exclude only posts that contain a specific phrase (like "red apples")?

Re: http://www.signonsandiego.com/weblogs/americas-finest/2010/mar/05/gov-state-try-spin-jobs-report/

The economic report I cited above says that "338,400 more people lost their jobs in December than was previously reported." This revision completely obliterates the minuscule January job numbers you reference. It also raises serious questions about whether California's economic recovery will lag the nation as a result of a business climate that is hostile to all but a few politically-correct, government-subsidized companies.

Help us do the math: At the current rate of green job growth, how long will it take for the green economy to create jobs for California's 2.3 million unemployed workers, assuming no more non-green jobs flee the state?

Re: http://www.signonsandiego.com/weblogs/americas-finest/2010/mar/05/gov-state-try-spin-jobs-report/

You expect us to believe a leftist professor from UC Berkeley when the university is being paid by CARB to map where the AB 32 money will go? The reality is we don't have to "do nothing." Instead of increasing energy prices further, we can and should pursue options that will lower our energy costs rather than raise them--options like nuclear energy (supported by President Obama) and expanded environmentally-safe offshore drilling options like T-Ridge.

Re: http://www.signonsandiego.com/weblogs/americas-finest/2010/mar/05/gov-state-try-spin-jobs-report/

Here's the story the Gov doesn't want the media talking about:

"In California, 338,400 more people lost their jobs in December than was previously reported, according to revised numbers released by the California Employment Development Department. The benchmark revision is extrodinarily large - one of the largest in the state's history."

Source: Beacon Employment Report, March 2010

Re: http://www.signonsandiego.com/weblogs/americas-finest/2010/mar/05/gov-state-try-spin-jobs-report/

The only jobs AB 32 has created are government jobs. CARB's payroll has grown more than 50% in the past five years yet somehow they still haven't managed to produce an honest economic analysis of AB 32.

Re: Capitol Weekly: State’s bad decision making: Chickens coming home to roost

Read Willie Brown on "out-of-control" public employee benefits:

"If we as a state want to make a New Year's resolution, I suggest taking a good look at the California we have created. From our out-of-sync tax system to our out-of-control civil service, it's time for politicians to begin an honest dialogue about what we've become.

Take the civil service.

The system was set up so politicians like me couldn't come in and fire the people (relatives) hired by the guy they beat and replace them with their own friends and relatives.

Over the years, however, the civil service system has changed from one that protects jobs to one that runs the show.

The deal used to be that civil servants were paid less than private sector workers in exchange for an understanding that they had job security for life.

But we politicians, pushed by our friends in labor, gradually expanded pay and benefits to private-sector levels while keeping the job protections and layering on incredibly generous retirement packages that pay ex-workers almost as much as current workers.

Talking about this is politically unpopular and potentially even career suicide for most officeholders. But at some point, someone is going to have to get honest about the fact that 80 percent of the state, county and city budget deficits are due to employee costs.

Either we do something about it at the ballot box, or a judge will do something about in Bankruptcy Court. And if you think I'm kidding, just look at Vallejo."

Source: http://bit.ly/7ZIEyG

Re: What's One Word that Describes Your Mom? :: Desiring God

Awesome

Re: Nominate your Pastor to Receive Rome Free Books

Pastor Greg Stoever of River City Grace Community Church in Sacramento, California

Re: Things I tripped over on my way to the internet
