I think I'll fall for this app even if I don't win, but we never know... Perhaps today is my lucky day?

Re: Couch to 5k – Week 1

Congratulations on your 1st week of running! The beginning is always very tough. It gets easier the more you run, you'll see. It won't take you long for you to run 5-8K if you persist. Keep in mind the first 1-2 miles (2-3K) of every run are the most painful as your muscles will start to loosen up after that. It takes 10-15 minutes of warmup before feeling really good during your run (and you will). I'm currently training for my 1st marathon and it happens to me for every run ;)
Keep up the good work!

Re: Injury-free running: Easy steps to prevent running injuries

Great post! I have to agree with almost everything and will pay more attention to my posture when running. I will try the mid foot running thing and see how it goes (I'm not too sure what is my "natural" posture yet). Anyway, stretching is extremly important, but a lot of massage therapists don't really recommend stretching before a workout. Never stretch a cold muscle! It's better to do a 10 minutes warmup then stretch if you want to stretch your muscles as soon as possible.
Rest is as important as runs. I would just add this: treat your body with proper night sleeps to allow it to fully recover. And stretch properly after each run. Hold each stretch at last for 40 sec to 1 minute for muscle fibers and collagen to stretch properly, and don't forget to breathe as you stretch. If you feel pain, then release a little bit the stretch.
Have plenty of safe and good runs. Enjoy your runs!
