We just had a developers meeting today where we discussed this. It's this whole question of how strictly do you define you 'neighbors'. In one place it could just be your street, in another you building, in another multiple steets . . . the combinations are endless. I think what were going to initially do is make flexible enough so that it works in all these situations, essentially making the groups more user defined. I have a feeling that the driving force behind using the platform will be the 'block' captain we talked about in a previous post. If that is the case then Sync St really wants to facilitate them as much as possible. I don't know if there is an right answer when it come to defining neighborhoods but if we do it right the user will ultimately show us.

Re: Sync St Team Conversations: When Philosophy and Programing Collide.

I just realized that Randy and I are both describing a Center Set, but where we disagree is on the definition of the center. What is the center of Sync St, a tool for neighbors who care? The Individual? The Block/Street/Building?

Re: Sync St Diaries - Who are your neighbors? When Softball lost it's Olympic event status it was also disqualified from all other world record categories, including Guinness. Right now it's a toss up between Dodge Ball and Bocce Ball for next year. I'll make sure to announce it right here when we decide, so stay tuned ;-)

Re: David Speers - Indy Hall cleans house . . .

Success!!!

Philly Spring Cleanup in numbers:

2.56 million pounds of trash collected - goal set was 1 million pounds

Estimated 15,000 volunteers - goal set was 10,000 volunteers

71 commercial corridors - goal set was 50

28 Recreation Centers - goal set was 10

27 Fairmount Park sites - goal set was 10

186 abandoned cars removed from the streets

Supplies used:

65,600 biodegradable paper trash bags

14,050 biodegradable paper recycling bags

17,269 pairs of gloves

9,804 brooms

Over 200 community organizations involved

3,649 volunteers attended the post-Cleanup BBQ at Lincoln Financial Field

Re: David Speers

I completely forgot about Germans Who Say Nice Things.
