It is not required if you are just passing through the county. A separate license is required also to pick up in jurisdictions such as Sarasota, Ft. Myers, Orlando, Broward County, Palm Beach County, and Dade County. Some counties do have reciprocal arrangements but the licensing requirements would have to equal. Since Hernando County has no regulation they would not fall under that kind of agreement. That is why I suggested that operators throughout the state should join together to lobby our legislators in Tallahassee for a statewide permit.

Re: SPECIAL REPORT: Wrong Regulatory Turns Around Tampa Bay - Limousine, Charter & Tour

I will comment on this issue only because my name has appeared. The WFLA Bylaws Article II states : The purpose of the WFLA shall provide a regional forum for the exchange of information and views by members of the WFLA, to provide a mechanism for the collection of information and statistical data, to make available the means to educate and inform members concerning matters of mutual interest and concern, to offer its members state and local promotion and publicity and to perform all lawful acts and to perform such duties as will benefit the WFLA and its members.

The WFLA did hire an attorney firm to review the legality of the permitting from the airport. Under that advice we as operators that were members of the WFLA decided not seek a lawsuit against the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority. During the meeting with the airport many of us operators opposed the rates. As an operator you had the right to sue them on your own.

On a reply to Linda Moore's comments she is absolutely correct. If we were able to get enough statewide operators from Florida to join forces and lobby in the capital we may be able to eliminate the multiple jurisdictions we all fall under and establish a statewide permit. This again will cost $$$ in which getting cents now is a big issue in our economy.
