This might be TMI, but I noticed Airism retain smell. Apparently there's a reason for this:

http://gizmodo.com/sweaty-s...

But if they have a different material, that might help. Right now I wear them sparingly, and definitely not on trips where I might not be able to wash my clothes immediately.

Re: The Best Plug-in Hybrid

The Audi is a Sportback, not a Sportwagen (it doesn't quite have the length).

Re: The Best Cheap Printer

He's saying "many" not "most", I think his statement is still valid and raising it as an issue that others should be aware of is helpful.

Re: The Best Cheap Printer

I really don't recommend the Samsung M2835DW - I bought one a few months ago, and in an all mac, all iOS household it's been problematic. Airprint stopped working (maybe some incompatibility with newer iOS/Mac OSes). Printing with the Samsung drivers is hit or miss. It's definitely slow when it does work. In iOS (might be an iOS problem) if a print fails, it keeps trying and the printer keeps making noise which can be annoying and hard to stop (unplugging it works). The status lights are confusing.

I may try to unload mine on Amazon and get the newer Brother pick.

http://media.giphy.com/medi...

Re: The Best Wi-Fi Router (for Most People)

I think they spell it Securifi: http://www.securifi.com/ Kind of pricey, but very pretty.

Re: The Best Earbuds Under $50

Iphone6

Re: The Best Earbuds Under $50

I bought two pairs of these. One of these I noticed that if you bump the jack it triggers Siri. Something is a little off in the wiring (or maybe the button is permanently destroyed). It's very frustrating, and not really useful with my phone. The other pair doesn't exhibit this issue, so it might be a quality issue. Check yours if it does this and return it if it seems off.

Re: Configuring a Jenkins Slave | Django Web Development | Raleigh Durham Chapel Hill | Caktus Consulting Group

Thanks Colin,

This was a lot easier than I thought.

-d

Re: Pinternationalization | dave dash

That's hard for me to say. It's important to scope a product early on, and marking strings, if you've never done it before, isn't easy, by any means.

I've seen quite a few mistakes where people treat the _() gettext function as some sort of magic marker that'll just magically work, regardless of how a string is marked. For example:

_('Hello,') arthur _('how are you')?

instead of:

_('Hello {firstname} how are you?', firstname='arthur')

This type of mistake will be noticed when strings go live and translators or worse users start complaining.

There's also extra work that needs to happen. When I worked on Delicious (2007-09) we marked strings for translation, but we had not translation plan in place. It felt like busy work. I think had we been more growth focussed that wouldn't have been a problem.

So, tl;dr: Do it if you know how and you have a plan on internationalizing soon.

Re: Pinternationalization | dave dash

* We probably will not translate user content. Definitely not in the near term.
* Strings are updated to transifex weekly, so translators have them right away. We can also push strings immediately if we need to quickly translate. There are some edge-cases we want to clean up in this process, but so far it's working.

Re: DjangoCon Testing Tutorial | dave dash

I have some slides on http://lanyrd.com/2011/djan...

Re: DjangoCon Testing Tutorial | dave dash

Good question :)

http://djangocon.us/tickets/

Re: Groupon is poor value | dave dash

So in my Hobees instance, I've already shown them that I'm a good customer, I don't think I need to be lumped in with other customers who are less so. No bad customer service is bad, even if it's because the restaurant in question is being screwed by Groupon.

As I mentioned in IRC... Groupon is a disruptive start-up... in the worst possible way.

Re: http://davedash.com/2011/05/17/better-querying-for-elasticsearch/

Yes, I'm relying on you for that ;)

Re: Moved to Jekyll and Disqus - 0xDECAFBAD

You are worse than Delicious!

Re: Moved to Jekyll and Disqus - 0xDECAFBAD

There is a migration script for posts.
