One more unnamed self inflated attorney ego with too much local power at his disposal. The garden looks great, the crops wonderful, and the dogs are just fine as well.

This local official is clearly petulant and chagrined and trying to find a way to win in the face of a stupid losing case.

Actually it is the same situation in reverse as to how this Koch Brothers educated Republican caucus treats medical marijuana. They do not trust the 63% who voted for the initiative, and now wish to allow local communities to ban medical marijuana through zoning... and at the same time they propose no one should be able to sue the state or local communities who vote in restrictive and often illegal bans of a medicine legal in Michigan.

Their world view and state view up in Lansing is conceited and arrogant.

Voting them to the sidelines is the only way to go.

If any tea bagger has a chance at the Presidency or Vice Presidency they will have to derail Mitt.

you seem to be getting out of control and beginning the personal attacks. I would like you to share a Democratic tale that comes anywhere close to the bad behavior of Republicans on a State or Federal basis. Maybe the Gulf of Tonkin would fit the bill, but that was a long time ago.

There are none in these more modern times.

Well unfortunately the R or D seems to matter more and more today. As for the morality I mentioned. Let's talk about President Bush and his lies about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Or the torture his administration illegally and immorally carried out. Or how about the tax breaks for the very wealthy that hurt middle and lower class Americans.

On a state basis how about Engler selling out the water aquifers to Nestles Corporation. Or the importation of trash and waste. And Rick Snyder is right in line with the same cast of characters to do further damage to the middle class.

Now I never said that you were morally inferior to me. Read my words more carefully. What I said was Republicans behave in a morally inferior position to Democrats in their governing style. As for smaller govt, well that to me is a dream not a political position. I have never seen any office holder really embrace smaller efficient govt. They just represent their constituency. And I do not think a business model likely to be effective in our state that wants a part time legislature or less policemen and firemen. But sure let's have less union people and teachers? That is my sarcasm, I support unions and teachers and believe them to earn every dime they make.

Take a look at the Gov of Wisconson today. He creates his own budget crisis in order to destroy the unions in his state. I consider that an immoral position. It is not based on fact or need but rather blatant ideological extremism... in fact he and Rep Ryan have more in common with another Wisconson legislator from history... McCarthy.

I consider many of the positions of the right to be utterly morally vacant. I do not necessarily consider the voters who vote Republican to be morally inferior. Just hood winked and manipulated. And for the most part not wealthy enough to benefit by any of the Republican promises and goals.

In that the largest increases of the deficit Nationally have fallen upon Reagan and W Bush in modern times is no mere coincidence. They were the tax cut and spend like drunken sailors leaders in my humble opinion. That Bill Clinton reduced the deficit also does not fit into the right wing world view, in my mind, and only reinforces what I am commenting about.

Smaller govt is just a buzz word, like liberal media, or fiscally conservative Republicans, or activist judges... and it only applies to the projects they do not like and would like to see overturned.

So what do we see in Washington? Fiscal conservatives? I don't think so. Not when they jam the tax breaks for the wealthy down our throats and in the next breath wish to blow up Social Security, the one entitlement that pays it's own way..

I do not work for or support the goals of the Koch Brothers, or any of these arch conservatives be they Bill Schuette or the Engler cronies or Rick Snyder. I will not stand down on this.

Everyone has a right to have their own political likes and dislikes. But you are not entitled to have your own set of facts. That is where I specifically criticize our Republicans at all levels. They smear and lie and know a certain percent of their base will embrace those untruths.

Sorta like the Obama birther bologna. Republican leaders like John Boehner say they believe he is a Christian (I'll take em at his word he says), and they say he was born in Hawaii (but will not criticize the nut cases who are in their party who claim otherwise). This is political smear at it's sleaziest. It is political theatre at it's best. Would you suggest it adds to the good of the discourse?

Can you show me a comparable Dem sleaze story?

Do we remember Whitewater and Vince Foster? Do we see Citizens United as a good thing in America. This is the pattern that goes back for years and continues to this day.

Yes I am morally above behaving this way. For sure.

rhouse, no offense, but that is part of the problem... people asking for the readers digest version of everything does not make one well read or informed. When there is a lack of depth in ones ability to understand the political message's basic lie, well how can one expect that person can understand the "news"?

I would not suggest we should attack the Republicans and conservatives as evil. I would suggest they have a self serving agenda to promote positions that fail to benefit the vast majority of the citizens of the State.

But heck, at least there will be alot of $8 an hour jobs at Walmart...

Well what did you think Gov Snyder was going to do? This began under the Engler Administration and guess what, Dennis Muchmore and many many Engler cronies are back in the saddle. They are once again laughing all the way to the bank. Rest with confidence this will begin a new era of pollution, stolen ground water, and corporate greed in the quest for power.

My fellow Michigander's, like it or not but the Independents who voted Republican and the Democrats who did not come out to even bother to vote, really blew this one. So we get the government we deserved... the government the motivated financed and helped get elected. Ad campaigns and a lack of debates... and a public who found the Snyder stereotype more palatable than the Bernaro model. Vanity and fools paradise to me.

The exodus is going to begin for our children and our seniors. No jobs here that are paying reasonable salaries with benefits. What? Benefits? Everyone just needs to buck up and move away.... Yep, that is the new reality for Michigan.

yeah voluntary works so well that we should all cheer. So Rick thinks that farms flinging dung all over the rivers and creeks will voluntarily commit to a best practices strategy once a threat of lawsuits goes away? And it is referred to as "frivolous lawsuits" to boot? I am thinking this is just one more ecological screw job to the public.

But hey, Rick is sooooo smart he will do the right thing.

Lee Clayton is an amazing artist. I think each release has been really nice. They are raw and real. Lee played a gig solo for a concert series I ran back in March of 95. He was playing a Fender Starfire guitar and just to keep up with his guitar volume, I had his vocals quite loud. Some left wondering what was happening at our lil acoustic club. For those who stayed, they witnessed one of the best concerts they ever saw. Lee played a number of new songs that can only be described as brilliant. He ended the night with 10,000 Years/ Sexual Moon. We got to hang out for a couple days. Great guy in every way.... he even did a long poem about flying a jet into a typhoon. as noted, I Ride Alone is a great record, and it should be listened to at high volume. Phil Donnelly is sublime and haunting with his lead guitar runs. Even Elvis Firewolf, Lee's wolf dog, makes an appearance howling at critical mass in I Ride Alone. There is a current youtube of Lee doing a new song that went up last year.
