My assessment: 90% chance Phillips (who's no stranger to on-field theatrics) was being cool about it, 10% chance he was being sarcastic and dickish.

I'd also point out that Jumbo Diaz put on quite a show after ending the 8th with a strikeout. So methinks both teams were just trading salvos of bravado.

Thanks for clarifying. My brain was a little fuzzy when I read that yesterday afternoon. For whatever reason, I've been keeping an eye on Chris Rusin. He's not doing terribly in the Rockies rotation, which is somewhat impressive for a fringy guy like him.

I can't figure out what this comment is supposed to mean. Are you saying those are all players the Cubs have claimed off waivers? Or that other teams have claimed off waivers from the Cubs? And who is "Hendriks"? And do you mean Sean Marshall?

I've had this same passing thought about moving Castro to the outfield because of his excellent ability to get to fly balls. But I fear center field is just too tall of an order. Starlin really doesn't run all that well. I could see him eventually being a good left fielder -- but that, of course, would pretty drastically reduce his value.
