I swore I was not going to get involved in this.Okay here we go.I'm a traditional kung fu stylist who by and large actually agree with you.BUT.Here is the thing you seem to overlook:MMA is PROFESSIONAL FIGHTING!!That means MMA fighters are PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES!!! Do you really think a good judoka who isn't in pro condition could begin to hold there own in an MMA fight?Do you believe that the average martial artist of any style wants to compete professionally?Yes there are amateur MMA fights.I've attended some and was entertained.Oh forgot to mention traditional stylist who is an MMA fan.That having been said,not everyone wants to go that hard.Or that way.When kung fu men ask me about grappling I suggest Judo and Jujitsu(surprise,I respect all styles) or Shuai Jow and Sambo because for some strange reason they seem to intergrate better with TCMA.Probably because Shuai Jow is kung fu,as for Sambo,no clue but I like the style.MMA's bad rep comes from assholes who go around messing with people for no good reason.They aren't exclusive to MMA but manage to do more damage.The whole MMA is the only way to fight vs. MMA is a tool of the devil debate is old.It needs to stop.I see MMA as a more advanced level of San da.For the people who don't like it or don't want to do it their oppinions should be respected.Everyones opinions should be respected.So endith the sermon.All paths lead to the summit of the mountain.Condemn no one elsess path,just walk your own.

On the issue of wire work:I don't really like it much.I didn't like most of Shaw bros.when I was a kid.My favorites were GH.The chief style setter for havest was Sammo.Sammo almost never used wires.Ulmost.Infact if you look at most of Yuen Woo Pings early work he had very little wire work.To be honest there is room for both.If the story is good and the movie is entertaining who cares?

I get what you are saying,and perhaps Leung Ting sifu needs to choose his companions a little more carefully.Having said that,you as a prominent Wing Chun sifu must conceede that the behavior of many in the Wing Chun community has in the past given the entire Kung fu community a black eye.

I was one of the people who origanlly poo pooed all over the "karate kid remake" but based on what I've seen so far it looks like the kid actually learned some real skill.So okay I'll give it a chance.I always try to admit when I might be wrong. Also this may wipe the bad taste left in my mouth by Forbiden Kingdom.The whole only little white kids get to have martial arts adventures thing is afterall very cliche.

The thing I find most distressing is this movie is full of people whos work I like(Gary Daniels especially)but it's a video game movie which means it's likely going to stink like dead cats,dog shit,and corpses from CSI combined.

Good question.It may be precisely because we don't know them but want to think that we do.This may be the reason why myself and so many other people were disapointed by Jackie Chan's comments last year about how Chinese people had too much freedom and needed to be controled.Or maybe we fans are truly just not right in the head. :)

mistermjones,always good to read your post.The rumor of Kara and Lau sifu"dating"may have started with Mona Fong.Fong was Shaw Bros. chief producer and was legendary for being so cheap that she could squeeze a nickel until it confessed to being a member of alqaida.The story is that Kara was on a overseas promotional tour and found out just how popular she was and how much Shaws was making off her and demanded a pay raise.If the story is true it's particularly ironic considering that Mona Fong was Run Run Shaw's well know "jump off" for nearly two decades.

bwildd if you are talking about the Chinese TV series Legend of Bruce Lee I have to tell you that thing is a piece of shit.Granted its slightly,verrrry slightly more acurate that Dragon the Bruce Lee story but it's still crap.Almost all of his friends are presented as enemies(Gene LaBell,Ed Parker,Chuck Norris),the technique of the guy playing Bruce was abismally bad and the music made my diabeties worse.
