The law quietly goes into effect Friday, and by next week will prevent many Texans from receiving medication they need.

I applied for my waiver today on the TSBDE website. Electronic dental records are increasingly more expensive and dangerous for both dentists and patients, yet offer patients NO TANGIBLE BENEFITS - Only danger of medical identity theft, which can be life-threatening for the owners of health insurance policies.

Nevertheless, Texas politicians have bowed to the desires of big pharma, insurance giants and other third parties who profit from digital records... up until a giant like GenRx Pharmacy fumbles 130,00 patients' identities. GenRx can afford such a blunder. Dentists and their patients can't.

https://portswigger.net/dai...

Re: Delta Dental of Virginia contributes $1M in COVID-19 support

Delta Dental, are you still charging full premiums for emergency-only dentalcare?

Re: Pagers, faxes prove tough to kill

Oh and the electronic health record industry is doing just swell! Patients do not really like clerks in the exam room. In one-size-fits-all healthcare, electronic dental records are a poor fit. Dentistry is often an afterthought. A basic difference between dental and medical practices is due to the number of patients they can treat per day. Whereas a dentist might have two or three thousand active patients, physicians have tens of thousands. What's more, dentists only bill for treatments related to the lower face.

Here are the facts about electronic dental records which dental industry leaders censor or otherwise ignore due to conflicts of interest - including coding: Dental EHRs are not only more expensive and less secure than paper dental records, but they require more training and offer patients NO TANGIBLE BENEFITS over paper to offset their cost and danger.

How is that not a scam?

D. Even as he made across-the-board 15 percent cuts to the fees Delta Dental pays their clients’ dentists in Washington. “WDS said the cuts allowed it to reduce the premiums it charges employers for dental insurance, a move that makes its service more competitive in the marketplace.”

When asked how paying less for Delta clients’ dental care affects their dentists, CEO James Dwyer, who earned $2.75 million in 2016, responded: “They’ve lived in a wonderful, insulated world. God love ‘em. But it’s changing.” Dwyer suggested, “Number one, they could start by working 5 days a week.”

CEO Dwyer takes 2.75 million healthcare dollars from captive clients – selling them rushed dentistry cheap, with no quality control. He is just one more millionaire Delta official who cannot be held accountable to the consumers they harm. And after cutting payments to his clients’ dentists, Dwyer has the nerve to suggest that they start working even harder for him.

Craig Neal: “In short, Delta’s response continues a well-established pattern of resisting any accountability to member dentists, the patients they serve, or state regulators. So, the battle for accountability is likely to shift to the courtroom. Dollars that should be going to patient care or promoting oral health instead will be spent on lawyers.”

Delta sucks.

D. In June, reporter Lauren Krzyzostaniak broke the news in an article she wrote for Dental Products Report:

Dr. Lorne Lavine, founder and president of Dental Technology Consultants, had once advocated for dental practices to invest in EHRs but is no longer a proponent. Now that the meaningful use incentive is no longer available, there’s just no real reason to invest, he says.

“When the funding was available and the office qualified [for the incentive], we absolutely advised [investing in an EHR], because that was a significant amount of money available to them,” Dr. Lavine says. “That opportunity is now gone, so we are not currently pushing EHR as an option. Most dental practices use maybe 5-10 percent of what their dental practice management software can do. They use it for patient information, scheduling, billing, treatment planning, charting and that’s kind of it. The things that you would normally get in a full-feature EHR module, the vast majority of offices don’t need or want.”

And for “most” offices, he’s talking probably 98 percent of them.
http://www.dentalproductsre...

Re: New Healthcare Bill Gets It Right Relaxing ‘Meaningful Abuse’ -- Oops, ‘Use’-- Requirements

In dentistry, electronic dental records are not only increasingly more expensive and increasingly more dangerous than paper, but EHRs offer dental patients NO TANGIBLE BENEFITS to offset the increased cost and danger.... Yet vendors are still selling them. Go figure.
