I'm sorry, but I need to point out a few grammar elements. The use of the word "would" in the second and last paragraphs are wrong The word "would" bears referrence to the past or past participle, not a future event. Also, the typefacing for the pointer "product specification and product life cycle" is inconsistent. [Sorry, but my mum was a teacher and unfortunately, these genes are passed on! Smile.]
Lastly, I'm not in total agreement about product pricing. Customers often automaticaly assume low quality if a product is priced too low. It's more important to play to the aspirational elements of the product and make sure it delivers what is promised.

Re: Customer vs. Competition: Who wins?

Excellent point. Companies and service providers in general tend to forget who the end point of the business really is- the customer. At the end, poor service providers lose out, not necessarily to cheaper providers, but to providers with better customer relations despite the "credit crunch". My cable provider exemplifies this- despite being the dominant force in the market, there are little or no loyalty incentives for customers and I have to scroll through different channels just to view what is going on on another station without disrupting the channel I'm watching. My previous provider was able to get around this without the need for endless scrolling. But for the inavailability of connection at my new home, I would change providers in a heartbeat, regardless of the cost.
