You are the founder of a well known radio station for one thing. You also have a blog ;) But *how* they are communicating about you probably follows the law of the most simple explanation -- people don't really need electronic devices in their cheeks to communicate with them. People can talk. And most of the things people I know say are pleasant and reasonable (most of the time) or I don't spend time with them.
