Am I to presume that those who are uninformed are those who hold to orthodoxy? Or are they simply thsoe who disagree with you?

Slogan-shouting and the ravenous desire to make some people outsiders and some insiders, is your statement. I asked you several times yesterday how a theologian can justify abortion. You never answered me. You still haven't.

You see, it has nothing to do with the slogans, those are just old fashioned sound bites. They are the kind of thing the nightly news feeds on now. it also has n0thing to do with making anyone anyTHING except making them alive.

It amazes me how someone can call for mercy and charity from others and so with so much hate and invective. If you only bear love to thise who love you what good is it? If you want mercy and charity, show it.

The ends do not justify the means, the aid of one to the detriment of another and the desires of the flesh against the word of God have no meaning but sin. The sooner you stop fighting God the sooner you will see it. You cannot define God or His commands and win, He defines Himself.

Yeah, I'll pray for you.

Re: http://bilgrimage.blogspot.com/2009/08/health-care-mobs-catholic-bishops-and.html

WDL,

You make the comment about appreciating my intrest in people whom God maybe Gay or Lesbian. To be honest I can't tell if your being snarky or not. I will take it as not since you don't know me beside what we have written here.

I find it interesting that you have contacted me. You are the first blogger who has ever emailed me. I add that to your credit because I presume that most bloggers don't care about what the people who comment on their posts think, apparently you care and that goes to your credit.

Every single person on this planet is on a faith journey. Some don't know it; some deny it; some make the journey their persona, public pilgramage for whatever reason. But all of us are on one. It is hoped that each of us grows each day and for those of us who are christian that we grow closer to Christ because therein lies our salvation. To be more like Christ every day.

Please don't make the mistake and think that I have judged you. I HAVE judged your words in your blog because that is what you have presented to me. You have presented to me a post that puts you at odds with some 4000+ years of theology. The 2000+ before the birth of Christ and the 2000 some after. Your blog post sets you at odds with a church that you say you are a member of. How difficult that must be. It must be difficult to e a member of a religion that one feels excludes you and is prejudiced against you. I am sorry that you have to feel that. Please don't feel that I am patronizing you. I am not. Without voice or face it is difficult to deliver true meaning.

You attacked several people in your blog. All of them are faithful to the doctrine of the Catholic church, painfully faithful. It is not easy to be faithful. When you go to a relative and are pointed out as "That one, the high and mighty" or when friends and relatives start the "yes, but.." conversations. "Yes, but what if she was raped?" "Yes, but what if they are in pain?" To stand firm is to risk everything publicly and privately. It is easier to be silent.

You said that the democratic party had the opportunity to champion progress and they let "the ghouls and trolls in through the window", or something to that effect. The attakcs on Sen. Kennedy and the Obama health plan, which you correctly stated doesn't really exist were attacks against progress.

So, theologically speaking, in the light of the Gospel and the Old Testement, when is abortion ok? When is it permissible to kill your own children? When is it permissible to kill old people? Last, where in the bible does it say that government should take care of the poor? I see many places where the individual person and the church should take care of the poor. I see many opportunities for charity for the poor, but nowhere do I see Jesus or Yahweh call on the government to take care of the poor.

I commented that in order to justify certain things about yourself you had to create a new theology. While it may have been unkind and uncharitable to put it that way I am forced to stand by it. Allow me, when Luther formed his new church he had to redo many parts of christian thought. It is said that Luther had a great devotion to Mary. Find me a Lutheran with a rosary. In order to justify ourselves we must change the word of God. If I wanted to justify certain actions in MY own life I would be forced to do the same. I am a recovering alcoholic. I can myself now, Noah planted a vineyard and got drunk, Jesus turned water into wine! It must be okay to be this way! Sadly, I know the truth. I also realize that giving up beer is easier than giving up love.

Your diatribe against the bishops and Mr. Madrid I found lacking in charity and full of the hate you decried in them. I found your attacks against faithful catholics lacking in any justification or understanding. Coming from someone who claims the title of theologian I found it surprising. I am no theologian. I am a pew sitter, halfway down on the right. No great learned man am I. At best I am a college dropout who can't decide what he wants to be when he grows up.

I wish you a good walk with Jesus. I wish you strenght and growth in His commpany. I am not your judge, just someone who is trying to follow Eze 3. I will keep you in my prayers.

Dan

Re: http://bilgrimage.blogspot.com/2009/08/health-care-mobs-catholic-bishops-and.html

WDL,

Actually, you do mention abortion. Perhaps you should read your own work. You mention it when you blur the truth about the bishops. You raise the idea that they are using abortion to block health care reform for partisian reasons. Of course, you forgot that and you blur the truth when you accuse them that way. But that is what happens when liberals write things. It is diffcult for them to tell the whole truth.

You see, the bishops have stated that they have no problem with health care reform as long as it does not contain abortion or end of life counseling. You see, these options are murder. So of course the church is against it. You would think that a christian theologian would know that.

Your blog is also written in response largely to Mr. Madrids response to a nun who mourned Sen. Kennedy. He is, of course, one of the most pro-abortion Catholics out there. SO yes I did stress abortion.

I also commented on your sexual preferance because you wish to celebrate it and pose as a theologian. As a gay man who wishes to work in the religious realm you MUST deny the truths of the church and the bible and find something new. If not you would have to admit that your lifestyle is sinful. So you construct a new theology that allows for your sin and consequently allows more all in the name of "charity". Of course you fail to see the millions of souls that you are leading to hell.

Please understand. I bear you no ill will. I wish you the best in life. I wish you healing in your life choices and a return to true worship. By true worship I mean that which is pleasing to God and not only to man. However, your theology is flawed.

Dan Costello

Re: http://bilgrimage.blogspot.com/2009/08/health-care-mobs-catholic-bishops-and.html

Sir,

I am amazed at your commentary. I see that you describe yourself as a Theologian. Might I ask, what theology based on what bible allows for abortion? What theology allows for the murder of innocent children to the amphorus god Molech? What reform could possibly be called good that allows such a thing? Wasn;t it for this very thing that Israel went into slavery?

You say that you are ashamed to be catholic because the bishops stand against you and your desires. What theology supports a man who allowed a woman to die and then didn't even report her death for some 12 hours? What theology backs a man who tried to sell out his country to the Soviets for political gain?

You say that the right hates. I agree. We hate those things and actions that are detrimental to the United States as a free nation. Big Government with overwhelming deficits destroying our future. It would appear, sir, that since you cannot have you cake and eat it too you desire to rewrite christian thought.
Might I remind you, sir, that the bible and 2000 years of Christian teaching say that your personal lifestyle is immoral and sinful, that abortion is murder and therfore sinful and that the "end of life issues" are sinful. As a theologian I cannot see how you missed that. Everything that our president stand for is against the will and word of God. i suppose you are part of a new breed of theologian, the make it up as we go along theology. Israel tried that, it didn't work for the either.

Re: CatholicVote.com

Greg, answer what? Are you losing the faith in the church because of the acts of a few men? Men damage your faith? Greg, is the Eucharist still the true presance of Christ on the altar? Yes. Are the doctrines of the church stoill unchanged for 2000 years? yes. Does the church still have apostolic succession? yes.

have then abuses lately? yes. Have the other faiths also had abuses? yes. The difference is that Jesus Christ established THIS church. Were there bad, pedophile priests? Yes, about 6% of all clergy. That means that 94% were good upright men!

Is your faith in men or in God, the God who rules our church and guides it with a strong right hand?

Re: CatholicVote.com

Tony, Sorry you miss the point. All the cards are stacked against his mother giving birth to him. All the cards are stacked against him succeding in life regardless of race or gender. He was a PRIME candidate for abortion. Yet, his mother chose life for him. What would have happened if she had not? What is the lost potential of all the lost babies in the world?

A lot of things are larger than race and gender.

Re: CatholicVote.com

Donna, that is the cop-out argument that has been sold to people. I am personally opposed but I don't have the right........ That is a darn lie foisted on us by Planned Parenthood and similar groups. Please read Ezekiel Chapter three. We are the watchmen. When Cain killed Abel he asked God, am I my brother's keeper? Obviously God's answer has been YES! We are not islands and franchises on this earth but a community mutually dependant on each other for survival and growth. To say that I do not have the right to force someone else is bunk. If we do not warn our brother and sister we are complicit in their sin. Can't you hear the cries of the murdered babies?
