This is gonna be epic! I think BL is gonna hold on to the top spot but I'm definitely hoping for Roar to reign supreme. Applause, is not gonna make the top 5, maybe around 8 or 9, just a guess based on nothing but my gut. :). Katy needs to release a real video real soon! After the VMAs things are gonna get crazy.

I don't think applause will get to #1 maybe the top 5, MAYBE. If Roar doesn't debut at number one I believe it will definitely climb to the top after the VMAs and after the video is released. Katy and her team seem to be looking at this a little more strategically. Sales are still going strong, radio is still building, and after the VMAs Roar will have enough of a radio increase to bump BL out of the top.
As for Applause, now that the video has been released the only chance it has is the VMAs and I don't think the after performance sales will even overcome BL's declining sales so there's no way it will even come close to Roar. So next week Gaga may climb to the top 5-MAYBE.
So round 1 goes to Katy I think. We'll have to see what the 2nd singles do.
As a side note, I think Applause is a more interesting song.

557K, WOW!!! Now it all boils down to the airplay and streaming gains Roar has made. Anyway you look at it, this song is going to #1, either this week or next. Applause, on the other, will not reach #1 this week or the week after. It may debut somewhere in the 5-7 range then will rise a notch or two after the VMAs.

Yeah, with 557K alone and no airplay or streaming, Roar would reach #2. The real question is if it has enough airplay and streaming to overcome BL's historic airplay points?

Applause, 5 or 6. It will not challenge for #1 anytime in the near future.

They will probably wait until around 3 or 4 o'clock to update the chart. All the suspense is probably bringing a lot of traffic to the site.

I'm not sure if she will or, that if she does, that it will be that significant considering her upcoming VMAs performance and a possible video release (depending upon the label's strategy).

Yeah, this is pretty much what I thought would happen. Next week, Roar will move to #1. The label may even hold off on releasing the video until the week after the VMAs in order to sustain the growth of the song.
Applause will jump but not more than one or two spots imo.

Roar's sales will not decline much at all after the VMAs. She will be #1 next week.

I'm pretty sure it will go to #1 next week. The sales will not decline much and will in fact get a boost on Sunday from the VMAs.

I disagree. I think the response to the song will grow over the upcoming week to sustain its lead. Also, I think BL will continue its decline but more rapidly. At the very worst, Roar will remain at #2 then move to the top after the VMAs. No?

lol, yeah, that's ok. You may actually be right. Streaming will be big. She is holding steady at #4 with just a slight decline. We will have to see how sales and airplay hold up for the next few days.
