Giving a reward and calling it a day is lazy engaging aka not engaging at all. In all the times I've partaken in a Klout program the real influence has happened AFTER the reward was given, when the brand engaged with me personally. It's all about the follow up. Anyone can give away stuff but not anyone can care about me as an individual. I take that back. Anyone can care about me as an individual but not everyone does. This is where most brands are getting it wrong.

You should become undepressed. The 3 year Chromebook contract is just for the Enterprise and Education models, as far as I can tell. The Enterprise model requires you buy a minimum of 10. For consumers, you can buy the Chromebook outright at around $400-500 depending on the model. The 3G version comes with 2 years of service from Verizon Wireless included, with 100MBs per month.

It *seems* that there is no contract, that the 3G is included for free, much like the Chromebook development model CR-48.

Facebook is trying to own sentiment on the web, but Google already owns the web. By adding a way to 'like' something they've just laid the groundwork to own sentiment on the web.

I've been following Sprouter's development. I get their emails every time they're sent. They've been talking about how their Q&A portion has been THE most popular feature of their site. It started out as a small feature that was buried and ended up being EXACTLY what people wanted. They listened to their customers and gave them what they wanted.

So when you say that Sprouter is 'chasing whatever is the flavour of the month' you're completely off-base and commenting based on your perception of what's in the public domain. As a member of Sprouter's community I can say that this isn't a pivot OR chasing something that is popular. It's a change that has been slowly overtaking other aspects of their site for a long time.
