Great post Dave! I just implemented this and it worked like a charm. I used all the filters you have and added an additional one for Page Templates that I could use for the Robots.txt. Thanks for sharing!

Nice post. Do you find this only applies to a Pages index type? I often use the Page crawler index type because of how I structure the site.

Now that I have this implemented I am receiving alerts for performance. However I really have no baseline to compare. Do you have this implemented on any sites? Are you receiving many alerts?

Great article Brian. I just implemented and thanks for the source to log Kentico exceptions. Additionally I used this https://blogs.msdn.microsof... to setup the insights for each environment.

It was Jeff who I work with that did it. I shared the post with him and he said, "basically same solution originally too with modules, almost looks like he took my code!" :) The difference in our problem was the client wanted to inject a banner ad after the 7th item. We both made sure to vote 3X's on your uservoice ticket.

For anyone else. It turned out my issue had to do with the environment I was running it on. When I built the index I would have indexed items, however my results in the Search Preview never returned anything. I was doing this on my local machine running under a domain alias. When I went out to the dev site running on our dev server and re-built the index it worked fine. I did try adding my domain to the Crawler Settings domain but that didn't seem to make a difference.

We store all our js files under CMSScripts/Custom/[sitename]/%
This allows us to edit the files either in the Kentico Admin or using Visual Studio. This also allows us to take advantage of the Kentico CMS minification.

As far as referencing the files we always setup our sites initially as you describe in Scenario 2 using the Multiple Page Placeholders. We find it keeps it simple and intuitive this way. Your Scenario 3 is interesting and something I may look into. Are conditional layouts supported with all licenses?

It absolutely cool. Especially for someone like me that manages over 2o instances. If I can set it up to manage all of them through one interface it will make my life a lot easier. Nice post Tracy. I've been in that very same situation before. One summer I decided to do a triathlon and run a marathon. Well not finding the time to train didn't allow those things to happen. I think it is best to get to these higher levels over time. Like you're doing, run the 5ks this summer and try to stay in shape this summer. Next summer you then will find it easier to enter longer runs like 10K's eventually half and full marathons. You're right you need to be realistic (which I found out).

It does help to find a group of people to train with and motivate you.

Good luck with you're training and running this summer.

Dave I am with you. I really enjoy the anywhere lifestyle but do miss that real life interaction some times. I miss it so much that I am working on opening a coworking space in my area. http://www.cloudcowork.com. I plan to still work from home and other places quite often, but attend the coworking space a few times a week. It's too bad there isn't something like that up in your area.
