People are fixating on the 13% state amount and not realizing how much is being paid overall. Some people would happily pay that to California and more, but the Fed also takes its share and it is quite large.

Re: VCs, Angels and Investing in Women: What Are They Not Thinking?

Great comment Mindy!!

Re: How Much Can You Get For Your Old iPad?

Btw, I'm buying iPads. I'd like a few wifi versions and any unlimited data plans that can somehow be transferred to me. (not sure quite how to do that) Contact me if you are getting rid of a few. I'd like them to be in good condition and under apple care.

Re: Study: Too Much Technology Has Destroyed Our Ability To Sleep

What I'd love to know is if this is true, how it might contribute to mental illness.

Re: Why Are You People Defending Apple?

Thank you Jason for being the voice of reason.

Re: If Sarah Lacy’s New Book Hits #1, We’re Throwing A Party

I just bought three copies for my friends/family and one Kindle digital version for me. Whatever works. I want to see Playboy succeed, but I think it is funny how many emails I'm getting today with people telling me I need an app like Playboy when it isn't an application, it is a web app or a ipad enabled website

Re: Uncensored “Playboy” Magazine Coming to iPad in March

Finally, someone who understands how the Internet works. Still confused about why this is a big deal. So, Playboy is going to make their site more mobile friendly?

Re: Uncensored “Playboy” Magazine Coming to iPad in March

I'm confused. If you want women on boards, then:

1) If our daughters are interested, teach them business & programming skills.
2) Encourage and mentor women who want to start businesses. If they start interesting businesses, invest in them.
3) Encourage women who leave Facebook, Zynga, Google etc. to invest what they made into companies and provide value. Key word being value. Founders/CEOs will notice that value.

You don't get put on a board just because you are woman. Board composition is incredibly strategic (or should be) and the seats are taken by founders (time + money) & vcs/lead angels (money).

As an investor who happens to be female, I don't see a lot of other women out here. I see a lot of my female friends buying houses instead of investing in high risk startups.

I sit on four boards and even though they are not Zynga sized, many have substantial revenues. I'm sure my being female helps with three out of the four, as a female perspective can be useful when you are selling products that are about women or to women, but that's not the sole reason I was added.

I'm good at what I do.
