There is comfort in knowing that I'm far from alone as 700 others from Tribune are in the same boat right now, but I agree with you that their move to cut off our benefits so quickly is deplorable.

Why be in denial that journalists have opinions? Not to mention, the RT format that they're proposing goes against what are widely considered to be standard operating procedures for retweets. The RT should fall before the source and not at the beginning of the tweet. Come on, guys. Get with the program.

Sorry, but this study seems short sighted. News organizations are all over social media, so how can you say that people aren't getting their news through Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr?

Forgive me for being so blunt, but I think this policy is terrible. I understand a company needs to protect themselves, but this reads like an angry lawyer wrote it and not someone who is trying to create a community. I think this policy would scare people away from using social media rather than encouraging them to engage.

Your first contest example is a violation of Facebook's Terms of Service and could result in your page being shut down. "Only users who like Gardner's Supply are eligible to enter".

From Facebook's Promotions Guidelines which you link to: "You must not use Facebook features or functionality as a promotion’s
registration or entry mechanism. For example, the act of liking a Page
or checking in to a Place cannot automatically register or enter a
promotion participant. "

With as many Social Media events as there are out there, I'd stick to just once a month. Might risk burn out if they're too frequent.
