No feature request - we like the features exactly as they are.

Our issue is that the product appears to be very very slow - it is not unusual to wait more than a minute to switch from one page to the next. And sometimes it hangs altogether.
If you can improve the performance you have a great product for Shopify backup/restore.

I am not sure Windows 10 is officially supported by SolidWorks EDU - but it should work quite OK since Windows
tends to be pretty good with backward compatibility. But if you want to be 100% safe you may want to hold off upgrading to Windows 10 for a while longer.

SolidWorks Student Edition is licensed for one year - so, if you need to use it for multiple years it is $86/year (at today's price).
Also, you may be able to find older versions somewhere on the internet but I think you would be better off buying the latest one in order to benefit from the newest features and performance enhancements.

In general SolidWorks cannot read future version's files - there are few special cases where it is possible but only with very limited capabilities (e.g., read-only mode)

I do not think so - AutoSketch has been around as an Autodesk product for as long as I can remember (at least 20 years)

There is no free download for SolidWorks but you are eligible to purchase the student version at a deep discount.
