The other thing that occurred to me -- and it was also a gut instinct -- was that this man was either a Briton or a German. I have no idea why, save that I know plenty of Britons and Germans in general like to vacation in Thailand -- 99% of them for perfectly legitimate reasons.

I'm actually getting a couple of hundred hits a day on this tlog, but I think people aren't sure what to make of it. It seems to be an 'either/or' deal in a lot of my readers' minds, when it isn't. I use this for quick hits, stuff I may not write about in-depth. Hopefully, more people will catch on that there are comments and use them.

Ron, thanks for touching on this. Those of us who have bipolar disorder (among other mental illnesses) in our families really appreciate it any time the coverage is thoughtful and compassionate. I'll be looking for Ms. Hornbacher's new book.

I believe Harriet may be a real person. I just can't take her reviews seriously, because she loves everything. Realistically, no one likes EVERY SINGLE THING THEY READ. EVER. And yes, I meant to use caps.

Amazon truly is a nutty place overall, though. Nutty and fun.
