That is a very slippery slope. Broken or not. Who's to say you'll agree with the next administration's view when they go around the "broken" system?

Re: Startups Matter In DC

The fact that government employees worked as a "parallel version of the FCC" is concerning. FCC has processes to get full representation and input. While these individual listened to those companies, they were not able to get full public opinion and it was done by invite only. What was wrong with the proper process?

Re: Fun Friday: Favorite Airline

I fly about 150,000 miles a year mostly regional with some cross-country. I fly Delta whenever I can. I think Delta nails it on regional carries (non-CRJ-100) and the mainline fleet. The product is great, the experience is complete (and everything is "on-brand") and the employee, I have found, like their jobs and are happy to be there.

Re: HBO No Go

Why AirPlay audio if no AirPlay video? That's tricky, two things come to mind about that. First, Google tried and failed. What, if anything, did they learn from it that could help here? Second, Moto has always been in bed with the networks and now more so with Verizon. Verizon saved Moto with the Droid brand. It's going to be a hard mindset change for the leadership of Moto to do that to such a long standing partner, technology issues aside. And of course there is Google's lack of a proven track record of integrating existing businesses into their own efficiently and effectively.

Re: Boots

What about the Wolverine 1000 Mile boot? http://www.wolverine.com/us...

Re: Tips for Running a Profitable Coffee Shop

This is a great post, thanks. What is the harm in just creating a conference, TED, Y Combinator style program that has all of the attributes that would appeal to women but open it up to anyone?

These programs are great, but the "this is for women" badge (even if it is open to all) seems unnecessary. Create a program that will appeal to women but open it and market it to everyone and all benefit.

Re: Software Is Media

I think the example you provide for enterprise software isn't truly enterprise software, rather it is SMB software which is entirely different. SMB software shares more with consumer software than enterprise software.

I agree 100% with your statement, if you say SMB rather than enterprise. We'll see how this evolves as Salesforce and others continue to shift the perspective.

Some of the examples (37 signals, MailChimp) are more focused on small business/focused teams that exist within an enterprise.

Re: http://cyreynolds.tumblr.com/post/356577426

I agree 100%. This brings up another reason why multi-tasking makes more sense given the different screen size. I would want a growl-like notification (not iPhone push notification) when I receive a new email or anything else on my iPad.

Re: http://cyreynolds.tumblr.com/post/356577426

Flash is no. I thought about the multi-tasking. Lack of multi-tasking on the iPhone doesn't matter because the screen only allows for one true task at a time. With the new screen size it is legitimate that you want to browse the web and have my twitter client up. I see an update to the iPad OS allowing multi-tasking just like they allowed 3rd party apps.

Re: Chuck Reynolds - Location, Location, Review

In an integrated system (with a nice integrated view) it wouldn't really matter. But, yes, if everyone used the same username across systems it would help. In light of what some people are suggesting, just allowing people to choose diminishes the value to both sets of users.

People will be discouraged to comment/participate if they have just the watch features. This will then make the uploaders screen less valuable to them.

With fewer uploaders, fewer videos to watch. You get the cycle.

You need to weigh both, and allowing people to customize it adds another layer of complexity to get the right experience. Also, you can't default to one without turning off the others.

Re: Consulting

Hopefully people will continue to look into Pittsburgh, it's a great city.

Re: Social Media

Welcome, please feel free to make some comments

Re: adjusting comment box width? need help!

I have a similar issue, emailed you about it but haven't had any luck with the suggestions. Some of the items I thought worked got nixed by the personal shopper.

They have an incentive to create a relationship with you so you come back for more. They also are very conscious of my budget.
