I connected to the vision instantly.

My favorite quote from Adam went something like "I felt like I was learning things I already knew". I like the way he's realized that this is his "calling" and I think it's an important idea that we all should be (by 'should' I mean we'll be happier there) doing our "calling" whether it's glamorous or not.

Re: Shortcut Saturday: Printing in Outlook

Yes, yes I do. I've not actually seen an 8.5x11 dangling from the branches, but I believe that somehow, some way we could grow paper on trees.

Re: Design Tables (4): Custom Properties & Part Numbers

Thanks, Mark.

Real estate is an odd connection to SolidWorks, can you tell me what you use it for?

Craig

Re: Free math software

I've used MathCad some (which isn't free) and really like it for certain applications as it is presented in a format similar to working problems out on paper. I suppose SMath offers a similar feel?

Craig Sink
solidimprov.com

Re: Shortcut Saturday: Windows and other Alternatives

That's good to know. I've not yet run into it, or I'd have mentioned it. Thanks, Jeff. Always the walking "wikipedia" (encyclopedia's are dated you know), especially in all things PDM.

Re: Apply Excitment of OpenGL vs Direct3D Directly to Forehead

It seems that this is best left up to the software provider (SolidWorks) because whatever decision is made, they must follow up with a correct approach. It does seem like there are benefits of DirectX with the apparently stricter standardization. Its always nice to eliminate variables as long as that doesn't cut into the performance and/or capabilities of the software. At the end of the day as a user, I want good graphics without having to spend a ridiculous amount of money, and get consistent results on multiple stations.

Re: It's GiveAway Time – Win Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extended.

It seems as if many customers will only look at files you send them if its something familiar, and for many eDrawings is not. Soooo......unless they can "click & look" they just ignore what I send them. I'd use video to demonstrate installation and/or procedures in new software. Also I could record some video of my screen while interrogating an assembly and send that to them as well.

As CAD Manager I would also use this for training videos or "tech support" help. It seems like creating videos accessible to everyone without being bloated can be finicky. Buried in PDF sounds like a breeze.
