You both highlight Meetup (IMHO one of the more under-appreciated social networks) and point out why no one should feel sorry for, ahem, certain major national newspapers, all without going heavy on the buzzwords. Really enjoyed reading this.

Re: Dear MBAs who want to work at startups

Good points made. The one item I take issue with is the implication that every MBA has "the lifelong dream of being a banker," and only since that has dried up are MBAs interested in taking on roles at start-ups. It's a caricature of reality - having attended a school where a lot of people came in to use the experience to get their own start-up launched (much less find one to work for), I can say the sense of entitlement implied here isn't universal.

While the tech-focused MBA community needs wake-up calls like these, let's not make the mistake that of assuming every MBA is a front-runner who JUST found the start-up world yesterday.

Re: Loopt for BlackBerry Now Works More Like Loopt for iPhone

Too little, too late, I suspect. Seems like foursquare's stolen their mojo (and Google Latitude's...)

Re: Proving the ROI of social media

This is great. Page 33 says it all "Non-financial impact is not ROI (yet)"

Hopefully, the ability to put forth a credible perspective on ROI of social marketing will be what separates the wheat from the chaff amongst the various "social media experts" and "social media consultants" out there...

@contactjr

Re: Advertising's Problem: It's Focused on Advertising, Not Solutions - mediabistro.com: AgencySpy

Thanks for the post Matt. From where I sit (digital-focused creative shop), your points feel spot on. But it almost sounds like your takeaway is that everyone should become a (albeit smaller) McKinsey or Bain, whose mantras are that they "solve problems"? Is that a fair read? From the comments, it sounds like you didn't have a particular analogue in mind.

Re: Me on the Internetz

Interesting post Kristin. I have almost the exact same approach, except that I integrate almost nothing into Facebook. For me, it's purely for friends & outside-of-work experiences. But I look at my blog (http://theoriginaljr.com/), tumblelog and Twitter exactly as you do.

And I am a foursquare junkie, though having a bad points week this week...
