If you want to preserve and protect your "complex, dense, 'cathedral-like' structure of the highly educated and articulate personality" than please do so. But don't suppose that many, even in your own peer group, had such goals or achieved much in this direction. The vast majority of people have been dreadfully ignorant throughout history, and volumes of great literature have done little for them directly. The internet is another attempt to connect people with knowledge and each other. And if it takes "machine efficiency" as an ethic to do it better, well, so has it ever been. I loved the story of Socrates criticizing the written word because it threatened memory. Without segue, I should note my own personal anecdote. I've done more "deep reading" in the past two years than I've done in a decade. Why? I got an iPad.

Re: http://concurrence.tumblr.com/post/3130819430

Maybe even do 65 now that I think of it.

Re: http://ohinter.net/post/686311829

Do you agree with weather?
Do you agree with gravity?

Re: International Space Station sex ban - Telegraph

numag - you are obviously not getting enough.

Re: International Space Station sex ban - Telegraph

numag really needs to get laid.

Re: http://awfulawesome.tumblr.com/post/448110618

Well you know that corporations own the government right? Just be thankful your silly capitol building isn't converted into a theme park sponsored by Chase Bank and Chuck-E-Cheese. Although it is probably already a zoo.

I think density is something to expect - especially in a hip place like Austin. I happen to be fond of skyscrapers in general, although architecture and city planning are vitally important once you start building up. Fact is, everyone is going to have to look at that shit for a long time. You can't not see it.

Re: http://awfulawesome.tumblr.com/post/444430264

The one on the right is also Jena Malone. I'm accusing people of being stupid, a condition to which all humans are subject.

Re: On my way to Munich

I most certainly did! In fact he is KGB, just as dirty political as the worst of any government. But the forces at work there are the same as they are here. The fact is that a light spectre of the cold war benefits the hard liners in Russia and also benefits the hard liners here in the US. Republicans and Putin both benefit by endangering people in Georgia and South Ossetia.

Re: Winnemac - A Sunday

Yay!

While dad tries to get to sleep because he has to get up early.

Re: Concurrence - A So (ah zoh), Tickets

I haven't seen one yet, but yes, they have the secret passenger who will suddenly flash a badge and demand to see your validated ticket.

Re: Concurrence - München

Don't be a hater.

Re: Concurrence - Research Project - Walking Speed

Sorry Bill, but this simply won't do. I need Quantifiable data and analysis reaching for plausible correlation. More supposition doesn't help.

Okay, now go out and get approximately 120 pedometers or GPS devices - modify them so that they turn on and off based on movement, have them measure speed, and location at all times. Recruite at least one hundred random pedestrians - people who walk a lot. Photograph them extensively. Give them the GPS devices. Tell them to keep them with them at all times. Don't tell them that you are measuring only their walking speed, tell them you are measuring "patterns in the city" or something. Have them record the times of day when they are in motion - walking to work, walking in the grocery store, going for a jog, etc. Collect the data as often as you can from the devices for analysis later.

Do this for whatever length of time is permissible and provides a good sample. Then do another recruitement of people to judge the first group on attractiveness. Correllate the data and see whether or not there might be a relationship between walking speed and attractiveness.

We also need a control group. Not sure if correlation is enough here....

Anyway, could you please do that and report back? Thanks. ;-)

Re: Concurrence - More Wireless Tech Love

It is pre-ordered and is supposed to arrive in country this month.
