The decision to begin using Facebook sign-ins for comment moderation was made by Sound Publishing's management team in Auburn, Poulsbo and Bellevue, and affects all 34 Sound Publishing news sites. It had nothing to do with the Orcas Island school district or any individual reader in any of our markets.

Using salt water can damage the fire trucks, as they are not designed for salt water.

Siggyrocks, The WSF website states that both the Elwha and Hyak are in the "Super" ferry class. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/fer....
While our WSF source stated the capacity of the Hyak at 2,500, the website states it as 2,000. The website also states the Elwha's capacity at 1,076. Thanks!

We agree, it's a high number. That is a projection directly from the county, based on population figures in 2025. Here is a link to the document: http://pnw.cc/4x9. Here is the section that number was taken from: "Either the number of jobs in the county decreases by approximately 30% or approximately 3,443 people will need to commute to the islands to fill the expected positions. Simply put, assuming that the ratio of jobs to population remains more or less constant, the projected demographic profile of the county in 2025 cannot provide the workforce required to fill the projected positions."

Dear cambridgesister: Inappropriate remarks about minors are not permitted on the Sounder's Web site. All comments in that vein that were posted on the original letter have been removed. The decision did not involve pressure from DVSAS, the prosecutor, or the sheriff's office.

When we originally posted Heat Wave photos we only had one, and it was by Erik Smith. To give the spot some variety, we took that photo down after receiving several from George Willis. So these comments are in reference to an earlier photo.
