I have the husband and kids, but we took a major hit on our house when we had to sell it to relocate, had to borrow the money, and will be paying that debt for a long, long time. Not to mention student loans. Sigh. I think that what got our generation in trouble was that we were led to believe that our lives would be better and easier than our parents', and we have had access to easy credit. After the Wall Street meltdown, I read that one change we should expect to see in our economy is that cash will once again be king. People like us are living proof that cash has to be king, or we will all sink. Together.

Re: I was a witness to Change

How awesome! My experience was totally different, but very profound in its own way. We were home with the girls, and since we're on EST, Obama's victory was announced at 11pm and he spoke at midnight. That's pretty late for a couple of old parents like us. We were lying in bed as everything was announced. I watched all of you screaming and cheering and for a moment wished I could have been there, but felt the tears streaming down my face as I silently wept and was overcome by a feeling of peaceful gratitude. My reaction was quieter, but still oh so sweet!

Re: Who are you?

I'm Jen from Mishawaka. We knew each other in high school, and I found this blog when I found you on Facebook and our high school web site. Me, blog? I wouldn't know how to begin!

Re: Reflecting on Jennifer Hudson’s loss

You were always a good writer, but you've gotten really, really good in the past 20 years! Bravo!
