But what about the fact that HTML 5 is currently not fully supported - IE does not support it, correct? Thats over 50% market share right there. Then there are people on older versions of safari, firefox, etc.

Yet all those browsers can easily get the flash plugin.

There are already TONS of libraries, tools, and documentation for Flex/Flash/ActionScript development. I find it hard to believe it is just going to suddenly go away.

Anyway, maybe the title of this should be in terms of dying, not that it is already dead.

what I would like to know is how do you figure flash is dead? HTML 5 is far from main stream. Last I checked, IE still has a 50-60% market share, and it does not support HTML 5 yet! Yet I can get flash installed on IE versions, even some very old ones.

Sure http://autism.infogateway.i... is a site I am trying to build. Granted it does not look like much now, but one key feature I am trying to have is the "ASD eBook" (link at the top). I am hoping to collect articles and similar that are helpful for people learning about autism. People are welcome to comment and contribute content to the eBook. I also post blog entries there when I see something interesting- whether it be a book or a blog post somewhere else. People are welcome to comment of course, and in fact I welcome people to come and guest blog - sign up and they can have their own blog- and I am happy to promote quality posts to my front page. Well, iPhone apps are written in Objective-C. Wikipedia says this language is from the 80's! SO if actionscript is obsolete (first appeared in 1998), I think something is wrong with Steve's point there.

Shouldn't I be able to write an iPhone app in a language 10+ years newer - Flash AS3 ??

Also, anyone remember about Adobe's mobile initiative?
Almost EVERY other mobile vendor is on board with flash, and working with Adobe to OPTIMIZE flash and get it working 100% on their devices. So Steve is making points that all these other LARGE companies do not get?

I think it is important to differentiate between developing in "Flash" and developing in ActionScript and aka the Flex environment. I would agree that Flash is more designer oriented, but AS3 and the Flex (aka ECLIPSE) IDE is a very good development environment!

But flash/flex/actionscript, it is all ultimately interpreted, and run on a VM - in this case -- FLASH.
The real bottom line is Apple does not want interpreted languages run on these devices.
AKA -- "JAVA" -- is that a DEAD language too?
Why can't I have a Java VM to write my iPad/iPhone apps in then???
Same reasons? Come on, give me a break Steve.

If it's aspergers, at that age I doubt the running away has all to do with that. Maybe a lower functioning autism. My guess, just a behavioral issue at this point unless there are more details...

Is clang working for anyone else when analyzing a project that contains a 3.0 library such as MessageUI?

I keep getting an error "MessageUI/MessageUI.h: No such file or directory".

It builds fine if I just do an 'xcodebuild' or build within xcode.

I have tried setting the basesdk for all to 2.2, and I have tried :

scan-build -k -V xcodebuild -configuration Debug -sdk iphonesimulator2.2

scan-build -k -V xcodebuild -configuration Debug -sdk iphonesimulator2.1

scan-build -k -V xcodebuild -configuration Debug

scan-build -k -V xcodebuild

Doing some searches it seems like it may have to do witht the fact that this is a 3.0 library ?
