Well said.

Does anyone else think that the way that Tori says "fast horse" is simply adorable? I love the way she smooshes the words together and adds a little extra saliva.

Re: Full disclosure:

I fully expected to feel the same way. I barely listened to ADP for more than a week. But I REALLY LIKE this album. Not all of it, but enough of it to say it is very good. I don't know how it happened and I certainly didn't expect it, but I just do. It has all of the draw that Choirgirl and Venus had for me and that is BIG.

IMO, Curtain Call, Starling, Give, Strong Black Vine, Fast Horse, and Flavor are perfect. I started out being very unsure, but I now have those songs on constant rotation in my car, on my IPOD, on my phone. I've lost it and it feels good, for a change. There are a few other tracks that I like just fine.

I loathe That Guy, Police Me and Not Dying Today.

3 out of 17. Not bad.

I really think it will grow on you. But what do I know.
:)

Re: Quiz

Man...beat me to it. Drats!

Re: Some initial thoughts on AATS

Although the album is truly all over the place, there are a few tracks that I really like...'Give' has the dark feel of 'Me, I'm a Thief', one of my favorite Sarah Slean songs. 'Strong Black Vine' is a definite stand out. 'Flavor' and 'Fast Horse' are both growing on me with repeated listens.

There's a whimsical, storyteller vibe to some of this album that I really enjoy. I love any song that makes me feel like I am in a piano bar in the 1940's, drinking a glass of whisky. ('Mary Jane' aka 'Velvet Revolution')

Usually, I'm a drum and bass girl. Choirgirl is, by far, my favorite album, followed closely by TVAB. Guitars are absolutely not my thing. But, they're not killing me on this album for some reason. Even 'Not Dying Today' or 'Sweet Dreams 2009', as I am calling it, isn't half bad.

As I listen to it, I tell myself to appreciate it as if I have never heard a single Tori song. When I don't compare it to her earlier works, I like it and am anxious to hear many of the songs live, which is more than I can say for ADP.

Also, I was within 5 feet of a baby today and I didn't lunge to punch it, so that's a good sign.

Re: Some initial thoughts on AATS

Haven't heard it yet, so I can't say. One is that it is a pain in the ass to have all of your legal documents and bills changed back. Plus, if you've been married for a year or more, now everyone in your life identifies you with that name, so why complicate things by changing it back.

My second theory is that women, in general, would rather keep a different name because it identifies them to people who once knew them as someone who was married and they would rather that then for people to think that they were never married in the first place. It's like a badge of honor that someone once loved you enough to marry you.

Twisted, I know, but some bitches are just crazy.

I would keep my husband's name because it's just one more thing that I could take from him if he dumped me, along with his prized album collection and his Playstation 2. I guess I'm just evil that way.

Ok, I'm just kidding. (or AM I?)

Re: Molly Knight

I wish she would stop trying to be whatever she is trying to be here and just be human and connected and Tori.

Standing against a fence, gazing creepily out into the distance has been done. It's all been done, actually. No more Isabel, Pip, Rumer, Scout WHATEVER! Just be Tori and make good music.

End of rant.

Re: Enough already.

I think it is worth mentioning that he won 8 gold medals, all while smoking a little weed from time to time.

Things Michael Phelps did not do:

run over a little girl on a bike at a drive through
melt into a couch
shoot a friend in the head with a shotgun

Just saying.

Re: Molly Knight

Mad Men is definitely one of my favorite shows. It is very awkward when people who I have always liked or have even considered to be friends come right out of the gate with their previously unannounced racist comments.

In the past 4 hours, I have heard:

"You should buy a gun. You're going to need one, especially now."
"What will I do when my kids come home and tell me that they are learning ebonics in the classroom?"
"I guess now we can't call it the White House."
"I hope he gets 'what he deserves'."

What the hell am I supposed to do with this?!
