The file does not have to be in your Public folder but as long as it is in your Dropbox folder, it would work. Also, anyone that you send the link can download the file, even if they do not have Dropbox installed

This tip seems to work only on Windows, what about Mac? it doesn't recognize the t usage :

I then used Network Utility and you can ping and select unlimited and it will do the same.. JUST FYI

I forgot that the recipient needs an Dropbox account. I do not agree with this change. Its not totally sharing. You have to be a part of Dropbox to share.

There are other ways to share instead of using Shared Folders. Try the Photo Folder, and also Sharable Links. These don't take up others quota

They didn't state that here but at the forums. Anyhow, really no difference at any other cloud services. As many professionals has stated, do not save sensitive information in any cloud services

probably not but you seem to be convinced that Dropbox will just hand info over without any fight. Not what they stated but you are entitled to your beliefs

that is the same stance any other cloud services you find out there, including SpiderOak, All companies should abide by the law
