The BootNeuter.app GUI program can re-virginize your S-GOLD firmware and bootloader. Just prepare another ipsw with the proper selection.

A quicker way if you are good at the shell prompt is to use Cydia to install openssh, log into your iPhone, and do "rm -rf /var/root/Library/Lockdown" and then reboot your iPhone.

Re: Thanks for waiting :)

Error 1 is usually caused by not being at iTunes v7.7.

Re: Thanks for waiting :)

Yes if you are legitimate subscriber and go through the "advanced" options, do not select "Activate". DFU is a very powerful mechanism that can recover from everything you throw at the main CPU. Some of us during development have recovered from *completely erased* iPhones with literally nothing on there to boot, and DFU was able to recover. So, don't panic :) Visit the forums or IRC for help on how to unjam yourself.

Re: Thanks for waiting :)

Thanks for noticing that! You can get into recovery mode by having iPhone connected via usb and then holding down both power and home buttons until you see steved cartoon. Once you are there, do a normal recovery mode restore of your custom ipsw (or, if you like, Apple's ipsw).

Re: Thanks for waiting :)

please see response below :)

Re: Thanks for waiting :)

dev team doesn't get mad at questions :)

There are currently no other methods to jailbreak iPhone 3G other than PwnageTool.
