Have to agree with Corrupted Mind. Look at Amazon's play here. They understand that what it takes to win in the mobile space is KIATCS (keep it about the content, stupid). Okay, not so elegant as KISS, but you get the point. What sells tablets is't dual core processors or the latest version of Android. It's about easy access to the content I want. That simple understanding -- which seems lost on most tablet makers -- and the super low price point looks like a winning combination (or at least insta-player status for Amazon).

Buying Palm gets Amazon hardware, software, IP protection and means Amazon no longer reliant on Android. Android let Amazon enter the market more quickly, but looking at how Amazon works, you have to assume they want to control everything about the Fire. Soup to nuts. Buying Palm, gets them a lot closer, a lot faster.

Ha! The other way to go is to put it in a case. Although, you'd want a clear case to continue to show off the badassitude. My incident was particularly horrible because it happend two weeks after I got my 4.

Love the story @twitter-3452941 ! The Apple store at Bellevue Square replaced the glass on the back of my iPhone for $15. It got badassed in a horrible ultimate frisbee incident. :( It's better fixed. :)

I was most taken with the way they called on people with questions at the Facebook press conference. "You. In the green shirt. Go ahead." Reporters who have covered the tech space for the last 30 years have to love that.

Kathy, your points are well made. The disconnect for me is the continuing lack of technology at the POTUS press conferences. Still no laptops?!?! Are they forced to write on papyrus with quill pens too?

This chart is an interesting way to compare specs. While it mentions app stores, it neglects to mention the importance of the iTunes music store. Before "Super Phones" we were calling them "converged devices." The Nexus One falls down as a converged device -- assuming music player is one of the devices -- with only 4GB of accessible storage. Sure it has expandable memory, but are most consumers going to take advantage of that? probably not.
