It seems to me that (at minimum) you would make sure that the metadata of the original image was maintained in the final version but that's not the case.

Re: First Light – WIN $4K of Photo Gear!

The FirstLight 20L looks like the best for my needs.

Re: How To Price Magazine Assignments

Huge props to Bill Cramer for sharing his considerable expertise. I'm sure there is something from this show on Youtube though. Have you looked?

Re: Cat Power @ Terminal 5 – 06.02.2008

Hi Rachel,

First off, the camera I was using, the Canon 1D Mark 3 has significantly less noise than the Nikon D300. In my opinion, the best way to control noise is to shoot RAW and get as close to the proper exposure and white balance as possible at the time of capture.

Since lots of exposure compensation and white balance changes in post can make whatever noise is in the image really stand out, I try to keep my post processing to a minimum.

Re: Info

Todd and I work together on projects whenever possible, but we haven't had a chance since Warped Tour this summer. I'm not sure when we'll be doing anything together.

Re: Info

Hi Janessa,

Since NYC is such a different market from St. Louis, my schedule is much more erratic than Todd's. I used to keep a list of upcoming shows but found that it was impossibly to keep accurate. Right now, I post whatever I can whenever I can. Thanks for looking me up and see you on twitter!

Re: Regina Spektor @ Sound Fix Records – 19.04.2008

Hi Luiz,

It pains me to say this, but the high res versions of these photos were totally lost in a bad hard drive crash shortly after I took them. In my personal experience NLM is not trying to screw photographers outright either. As far as I know, rights-grab waivers that they use are actually written and required by Silva Artist Management.

Re: MUTEMATH

I'm familiar with 80% of the bands I shoot. For the record, there is nothing wrong with your website - the work is easy to browse and your contact info is easy to find - that's all that really matters. I also try to nail my exposures at the time of capture which definitely helps control any noise that would result from exposure compensation in post-editing. I very rarely use noise ninja and even then I only use it to remove color (chroma) noise.

I sometimes use the flash bare and sometimes use the included plastic diffuser (like the omni-bounce) that comes with the SB-900. These photos were taken using the diffuser.

Thanks for the comment!

Re: My New Business Cards

Elisa,

If those were not the EXACT qualities I was going for. To be clear, Prestone only accepts jobs with the proper setup. So if you know how to format a document for a commercial press then by all means send them a job!

Re: Evanescence

Hi Wilson. Knowing about "secret shows" is just a matter of waiting until they are generally common knowledge. Mind you this may be after tickets are completely sold out, but that shouldn't stop the enterprising concert photographer from hunting down the proper contact for a press pass!

Re: Evanescence a preview

Thanks. I think it's easy for photographers to get stuck in the creative rut of doing things the same way every time; I know I do. This was a zero-pressure attempt to shoot something other than a big rock show with great lights.

Re: The 69 Eyes

Happy to help!
