G can tell what your brand is from your /index.html title and the added duplicate content takes away from the % of the title text that is relevant to the targeted search query.

Re: AdWords “Ineffective” Says eBay, Google “Meta-Pause Analysis” Contradicts Those Findings

seriously. If someone is looking up a query and adding "ebay" and they get lazy ad copy with a nonsense landing page url and obvious keyword insertion for the title they will lose interest and look down and see a good organic listing for the right product and an accurate description. The right metric to look at here is bounce rate and attributed conversion rate. not the bottom line. Rather than improving, they decided to cut the campaign all together. I don't own their stock so Im fine with that.

The information lacking here is conversion attribution. Are they considering last click conversions which tell about 20% of the story? considering most purchases are made after 5+ visits from different sources there would be a huge data gap and decisions being made on flawed data.

Personally I wish ebay, sears, home depot, lowes and amazon would clean up their act in adwords or get out. quit running up bids for everyone else who is doing a good job with their campaigns like ourselves ;).

Re: ANDREW TEMAN - I'm Quitting Advertising

Quite quick to judge Lyndon. You are directly responding to someone who is doing many noteworthy things in our industry. The title of this post is very misleading and click-baity & as marketers we are sensitive to that sort of thing. Andrew says that he understood that he would parlay this award into his own agency. Framing that as quitting advertising is just not true, however smart, as I have clicked through and read the article. There would be no contention if he was deciding to become a caddie at winged foot or become an organic artichoke farmer in Castroville. Fact is, if you are making money by branding or promoting a product, you embrace marketing and have only quit your current position. Plus they are not judging his decision, only the method of announcing (advertising) his new firm.

Re: How Mercedes-Benz on Instagram Averages 21,318 Likes and Comments Per Post

Thanks for the post Lucy,

Not to take away from MB's great content, but do some of those comments strike you as a bit spammy? For instance, and it may be a coincidence, most of the accounts engaging with MB in the "Hashtag Discoverability Points" example are no longer in existence and the comments make little to no sense or are just emoticons that couldn't render. I love the fact that SM's tools allow us to take a deeper dive into the legitimacy of the engagement here.

Do you have any insight into seeing how natural these results might be by using simply measured tools? That would also be a useful post as facebook continues cleaning up many of the bogus accounts with poor quality engagement.

cheers,
Kevin

Re: 4 Mistakes Agencies Make to Lose Clients

Maybe speaking the clients language is a better way to put that. Larger business are looking at the same metrics. Matching the KPI's that clients use to measure success is important and anyone with minor experience in PPC or SEO analytics won't be overwhelmed by any of the terminology here. Pretty straight forward.
For small local businesses with no analytic savvy, the communication might need to be dumbed down. Those are tough clients to keep anyways since they usually just don't understand enough about measuring performance and value of different channels/ strategies to see the end value.
In my experience if a client doesn't know the language, teaching them how to measure success for their own business helps client retention.

Re: 4 Mistakes Agencies Make to Lose Clients

It's a constant struggle to attribute value to your services with online metrics. Especially when working in tandem with other agencies, PR firms and multiple channels. Each service provider is looking to take all the credit they can.
Attribution models have helped but are yet to be perfected. Call tracking offers a similar predicament. Many of our clients are large brick and mortar or have a phone call as a conversion.

Do you see any changes that will help to close the gap from online lead gen to offline (in store) transactions anytime soon?

I would love to be able to report on end sales in store that started from phone calls or form leads that we were responsible for.

Re: Records Released On SDPD's Use Of Stingray Cellphone Tracking Device

How much do you make per post?

Re: Records Released On SDPD's Use Of Stingray Cellphone Tracking Device

I am sorry is that a personal attack?

Re: Jensen: A familiar face and a good fit at LaSalle

Good to have two talented and humble coaches on the staff.
