I agree with the Moff Gideon part - I can't help but think we'll see a Gideon / Thrawn battle for affections situation with the Emperor (assuming they dont pretend like he's just hidden and gone like the movies suggest), like Vader / Xizor in Shadows of the Empire. Wouldn't THAT be wacky?

The ratings were tabulated by the people who conducted the study - these people are all associated with reputable organizations, as noted.

It's far more likely that the people in China responding to the survey felt pressure to answer as positively as possible.
